Don't Be Moved!
"Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let
nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord,
because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain." (I
Corinthians 15:58 NIV)
As we prepare to say goodbye to 2014 and face the challenges of 2015--don't be moved--tempted to join the masses in thinking there is no hope.
No matter who sits in the White House, they are not God--they do not hold our future in their hands and there is nothing they can do to change God's plans. They may be used as part of God's plans, but they cannot change God's plans.
Neither will it matter who holds the majority votes in either the House or the Senate--God is still God--even if some politicians think they are, they're not.
No matter how negative the media reports every event--they will have to stand before God one day, too and give account for how they reported news and so will their producers--whose biases are represented in the news reports.
No matter how many people are killed by the negligence of gun owners, police, or criminals--God still has the last word--and soon, very soon, all will know that the NRA is not God nor do they represent Godly behavior.
No matter how many people appear to suffer at the hands of dictators and godless leaders--God will wipe the slate clean and all who honor and respect Him, will be vindicated.
No matter who attempts to change the intent of God's Word to appease the masses for fleshly pleasure--they, too will stand before God and give account of themselves, but before that--they will see firsthand how the wrath of God deals with those who profess to know Him, but live in opposition to His Word.
No matter how many people say we, who Believe are foolish and unlearned--don't be moved--the same was said of those God used to inspire to write down what He said. Remember this--the fool has said in his heart there is no God and then allowed his lips to utter the same expression. Don't be moved by their unbelief, God will move them.
No matter what 2015 brings into our lives--stand firm, unmovable, in the faith that we are victorious in all things and no matter what the enemy attempts to do to deter us--we shall not be moved because with God going before us--He is more than the world against us! Hallelujah!

Only Those Who Follow, Know!
"Jesus answered, “I did tell you, but you do not believe. The works I do in my Father’s name testify about me,
but you do not believe because you are not my sheep. My sheep listen to
my voice; I know them, and they follow me." (John 10:25-27 NIV)
Why is this same debate still strong today? For the same reason it was debated then--if we don't follow Jesus, we cannot know who He is or that He is God and that He and the Father are one in purpose.
Trying to explain Jesus to people who have not submitted themselves to understanding by knowing The Word or having a relationship with God is pointless. Basically, those who debate or attempt to debate belief in Jesus are simply trying to undermine those who do. For those who have questions and genuinely want to know, their hearts are open to hear and understand. These are those who yet have a heart of flesh and not of stone. Flesh can be molded and shaped, while stone is resistant and knowledge simply bounces off or causes the stone to shatter into pieces and the pieces are ground into sand.
God does not want us to be ground into the dirt, broken without knowledge. He wants us to know Him, but the choice is ours. We can live the abundant life He plans for us or we can be shattered and lost in our unbelief. It's up to us.
And while some may say--"I'll give my life to Jesus tomorrow," tomorrow might be too late. Today, while you yet have a chance to open your heart to Him and hear Him say, "I love you and want only the best for you while on you're here earth and for you to live with me for all eternity when life on earth ends." Today, while there is breath in your body is the time to choose! Choose life because only those who follow Him, will know Truth at the end!

Decently and Orderly!
"Let all things be done decently and in order." (I Corinthians 14:40 NKJV)
To keep things in context before I start my rant, remember this verse has to do with doing all things decently and in order in the church; especially in how we conduct church services.
Though I could "rant" about how many don't understand this as it pertains to the church, I'd rather take another route so hopefully, people will think about how they do things--outside of the church, as well as inside.
Old School Teaching about Etiquette--apparently no one is teaching anyone how to conduct themselves when in the presence of others. So, I decided to take this upon myself because rudeness and inconsiderate people really try my patience.
1. Ignoring given time-frames for an event and showing up whenever a person feels like it is rude and inconsiderate. People don't have to explain why they decide to do things at a specific time and if a person plans to participate in the event, they should be on time. If they cannot be on time, don't attend at all. But do send the host an RSVP whether attending or not so they don't waste their money.
2. Ignoring common courtesies such as--not talking with a mouth full of food (no one wants to see what you're chewing), having "very loud" conversations on a cell phone in public (this is your business and the rest of don't need to know it).
3. Knowing that children have not been raised to respect other adults and taking them with you to be rude and disrespectful. Until a child is trained how to behave away from home--keep them at home so no one will just how neglectful you've been as a parent.
4. Excluding other people invited to an event in a home. People should learn how to communicate effectively with conversation that all can join--not play games that exclude others when there are number of people at the event.
5. Inviting yourself to eat at someone's home. Don't visit other people or drop by their house and ask for their food. If offered, then it's okay; but if not offered, don't ask--this is a sign of no home-training whatsoever. If you don't know how they budget their food for their convenience, don't disrupt the flow of someone's plans for themselves.
This list could go on and on, but I'll stop here. Etiquette rules--though not followed very often--are still available online and in bookstores. Think about this--how would you want someone to treat you and your home?
If I have offended any--good--perhaps it's time someone told you how to act in public. If any have learned anything--even better since the purpose was to remind people how to act in public. When we learn how to do things at home and practice it at all times, we have no need to be reminded when in public.
I'm praying for us all to learn to do things decently and in order at all times--in church and at home!

Beliefs, Confession, Guidance!
In this coming new year, we all need to get an understanding of what it is we believe and then our beliefs (what we confess with our mouths) should guide everything we do.
If we say we believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God (God in the flesh) and we should live according to The Word, then we should not promote any beliefs or conformity to anything that does not align with The Word.
We should not hate or humiliate others simply because they do not believe what we do or because they are different. What a boring world this would be if we all looked alike, thought alike, and talked alike, and did everything the exact same way. If God had wanted clones, He could have accomplished that. He created us uniquely individual, capable of doing all sorts of great things to His glory, according to His Word. He has given all gifts--that differ--so we might all enjoy the collective benefits of all the gifts He has given.
The gifts I reference are not just the spiritual gifts needed by apostles, prophets, pastors, evangelists, and teachers or those listed in I Corinthians 12--tongues, interpretation, miracles, healing, discernment, wisdom, knowledge, faith, or prophecy--these are needed to build the Kingdom of God so that all needs are met. I'm referring to the "natural gifts" that He gives so all may benefit--the gift of writing, creating music, singing, painting, sculpturing, nurturing, counseling, parenting, comforting, encouraging, helping, and a host of other gifts--that many can enjoy whether they are saved or not.
However, being saved--puts us in a unique position to promote the Gospel with the gifts He has given. The Believer should always utilize the gifts given to promote the Love of God and in obeying His Word. The unbelieving are also gifted and most of them use their gifts to entertain the masses according to their gift and in many cases, entice people to live in opposition to God's Word.
It is not that Believers are superior to unbelievers; it is simply a matter of Believers knowing our Risen Savior and living to please Him, rather than appeasing fleshly dictates.
When the end comes, we are all going the same path--through death (if The Lord delays His return), so none are better than the other, but some are more astute than others because of the relationship established with Jesus!

Exalted Everywhere!
"He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be
exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” (Psalm 46:10
NIV)
No matter what people believe or don't believe--there will come a time when every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus is Lord! He will be praised in all the earth by all nations.
Until that time arrives, we only need to be still and know--that He is God and that He will make Himself known to all, even those who profess He does not exist--they will know--He does exist!
Many events shall unfold that no one will be able to explain because there will be no explanation other than God's hand moved and things changed in an instant. Those who don't know Him shall tremble in fear, not understanding that He is simply making His presence known, but the end is not yet. His love for us is so great, He gives us chance after chance to get things right with Him, before the end comes so we won't have to face judgment for unbelief!
When we see strange occurrences that science cannot explain, just be still and know that God is and will be exalted everywhere!

Loving Regardless!
"But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,
that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to
rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the
unrighteous." (Matthew 5:44,45 NIV)
Talk about having a sense of humor! When Jesus told people to do this I can only imagine what they were thinking. "What? Is He nuts? No, He wasn't--He was simply being who He was and is--Love!
Love--can only produce love, can only ignite love, can only fuel love and while it can be a strain sometimes, to love the unlovable, we can do it when we remember this. The problem with remembering this message is that we are often seduced by a spirit of self-righteousness to think we have to cater to those who hate us and we we do not.
How do I know? When Jesus overturned the tables in the temple because of the farce He saw of hypocrites, He loved them enough to correct them. When parents have rules and instill in their children appropriate behaviors it is because of love. God has established proprieties for all of us and in order to obey Him, we have to love--not be foolish, but care enough about people that we plan no harm, but want to see them in position to receive all that God has for them.
Only an enemy plans harm--love plans care and protection.
Even when we recognize the enemy, we can still love them enough to correct them, redirect their thinking, and treat them courteously, and never lose sight of the rules established to maintain order and consideration of others.
Because people "in general" do not understand the meaning of courtesy and consideration, they often ignore the rules of courtesy and the laws of the land. Discourteous drivers think they are the only ones with the right to drive on the roads, at any time, and to ignore those who also have rights. Discourteous movie-goers have phones ringing and public conversations that interfere with those who have also paid to see the movie to "hear" what's on the screen. Discourteous people eat at restaurants and never tip their servers appropriately. Discourteous people only think about what they want and never consider the rights of others or give them any consideration. In spite of all this, we can still love--sometimes from afar--and pray that their hearts will be softened to hear God and know Love, so they, too--can love.
Regardless of how we feel--as long as we do not allow ourselves to be put in harm's way--we love regardless of the attitudes of others towards us. Jesus said so, but even He had limits and boundaries--because He is love!

The Cost of Understanding!
"The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding. Cherish her, and she will exalt you; embrace her, and she will honor you." (Proverbs 4:7,8 NIV)
When we look at the "wisdom" discussed in Proverbs, we sometimes miss the fact that we cannot seek true wisdom, unless we seek it from God. "If any lack wisdom, ask of God who will give it" (paraphrased). Seeking wisdom from any source other than God is foolishness for man does not have the capacity to distribute the wisdom God has.
Once we have sought God for wisdom, now we must seek understanding--no matter what the cost may be. The cost here is not necessarily a monetary cost, but a cost in humility, service, and constant communication with God. Are we willing to pay the cost to stay before the Father, no matter how foolish people say we are? Or will we succumb to the masses and man's limited wisdom and attempt to please man more than God?
In this life we all have choices and our victory over all that is put before will be determined by the wisdom of our choices. Will we succeed or will be defeated?
Get wisdom and understanding and develop a willingness to pay the cost--even though you may appear foolish, determine to be a fool for God and not for man.

God With Us!
“Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.” (Matthew 1:21 NKJV)
As we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior, remember it is not about the gifts we give to others, but about The Gift He gave to us. And we know that the 25th of December is not the day He was born and it really doesn't matter. What's important is that He was born, He lived, He died, He rose and now sits at the right hand of His Father--interceding for us, watching over us, empowering us with His Spirit to accomplish all things and live the abundant life He promised us! Let's celebrate Him and be thankful for all we have in Him and through Him!

The God of Hope!
"May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as
you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the
Holy Spirit." (Romans 15:13 NIV)
The God of hope--not defeated, but victorious in all things, and gives to us the power through Holy Spirit to always have hope for the best in all situations.
The God of hope--fills us with joy and peace, not fear and doubt, but allows His joy--which is our strength--to overflow in troubling times so we are not discouraged, and can encourage others to trust in Him.
The God of hope--once expected to deliver The Children of Israel--their soon-coming Messiah--who chose to save and deliver the rest of us who choose to believe that He is and will be, all we will ever need to succeed in His plans while here on earth, and enjoy living with Him for all eternity.
The God of hope--who loved us enough to leave His heavenly throne to appear in the flesh and live among us, just as He promised, dying for us, yet rising from the dead, with victory over the evil one so we might have life and that more abundantly.
This what the God of hope does for those He loves and never leaves us alone!
Look forward not backwards and never allow the enemy to trick you into regretting a past that brought you to the throne of grace--loved, delivered, saved, and free to love in return.

Lest We Forget!
“Consider this, you who forget God, or I will tear you to pieces, with no one to rescue you: Those who sacrifice thank offerings honor me, and to the blameless I will show my salvation.” (Psalm 50:22,23 NIV)
What is it that He wants us to consider? Meditating on the verses before these, should help us to understand that God is not fooled by those who do not claim to serve Him, spouting His Word, and living in opposition to it! Starting with verse 16, He asks, "What right do the wicked have to recite His laws or have His covenant on their lips? Especially those who hate instruction and cast His Word behind them when it doesn't suit their purposes?"
Once again, we see people can be snared by their own lips when--we say one thing and yet do another. How can any claim to understand how Jesus loves and wants us to love without accepting that He is the Father, come down to earth in the flesh, and He would not change His Father's Word to suit Himself or us?
According to The Word--when we change the intent of God's Word for our own purposes--no matter who we are or what our "so called status" is in life, He will have the last word and it is He who will set out the evidence before the accused and find Him guilty.
Let's stop playing games with The Word--trying to impress others with our knowledge or ability to quote The Word when we are incapable of living The Word! No one is impressed by this and certainly God is not fooled by what we say when He knows our hearts! Man-up or Woman-up and live like God wants us to live--according to His Word, not our fleshly dictates!
After all, this is the season we celebrate His loving us enough to join us--here on earth--to experience life--like we do and yet not sin, according to The Word!

The day has finally arrived when you can enjoy my completed project--after 15 revisions, but worth the wait. Mystery/suspense worth the read available on http://www.amazon.com/Mary-M-Hall-Rayford/e/B00BAW31CQ/

Say What?
"What I say to you, I say to everyone: ‘Watch!’ ” (Mark 13:37 NIV)
What we say matters--in most cases, but we don't just speak with our lips, our actions speak loudly, especially when they don't line up with our lips.
This is why we are admonished to be "living letters" read of men because all who watch us, pay more attention to what we do, than what we say. If we are not saying what Jesus said, in the context in which He said it, then our lips lie and if our lips lie, our actions will also promote lying.
The difficulty most Believers have in convincing anyone that The Word is true is because they only live on Sunday morning, or during a midweek service. As soon as the service is over, the "real them" controls and makes everything they "said" a lie. How do we know? How many times have we heard testimonies about how they were driving beyond the posted speed limits and when pulled over, the police officer showed them mercy? If we really believed in obedience, we wouldn't be speed-demons and if we have given Our Lord and Savior complete control over our lives, why won't we allow Him to control our heavy foot? This is not a testimony of God's goodness, it is a boast of our stupidity.
When we stand in lines and grumble, irritated beyond measure and cuss at everyone around us and people hear us cussing out folks on the phone, do we really think God doesn't see or hear us? And some of these same people can be heard bragging, "I'm Baptist born, and Baptist raised, and I'll be a Baptist all of my days." Whenever I've heard this (and I've heard it on more than one occasion) I cringe--for all Baptists since this is how they're being represented--loud and obnoxious.
But it's not just Baptists, or Methodists, or any other "one" denomination" that has difficulty being "the letter read of men" that God wants us to be and saying what The Word says. Many of us have the same issues and I wonder are we paying attention to us--not other people?
The bottom line is this--make sure your actions line up with what we say--people are watching and if we say we belong to Jesus, we are held accountable for all we say and do that is not of Him.

The Measure of Greatness!
"To which of the trees in Eden will you then be likened in
glory and greatness? Yet you shall be brought down with the trees of
Eden to the depths of the earth; you shall lie in the midst of the
uncircumcised, with those slain by the sword. This is Pharaoh and all his multitude,’ says the Lord GOD.” (Ezekiel 31:18 NKJV)
When people seek greatness of their volition, they usually don't care about the lives they destroy in their quest. And when they foolishly believe that their greatness is a result of either who they are or what they accomplish, they shall be brought down for all the world to see.
When God's will for greatness is fulfilled in a person, everyone around them benefits. If people do great things for the benefit of others (not themselves), then God will raise them up for the world to see and if they are truly humble before God, their greatness will be beyond measure for it will never stop.
There are people who have been called great based on our understanding of greatness, but they were they great in God's sight? Only He can determine the measure of their greatness which probably has less to do with our definition of greatness. But there are some things we can measure based upon His Word.
Are we seeking to promote peace within and without our immediate boundaries?
Are we promoting unconditional love for all regardless of ethnicity or gender?
Are we promoting obedience to God's Word or are we promoting political correctness that defies God's Word?
Greatness, our greatness, will not be measured by God by our standards, but by His and if we don't measure up to His standards, what then have we truly accomplished?
I'd rather have His elevation for doing things His way--no matter how long it may take--for all eternity, than to have all of mankind applaud my efforts in keeping them pleased, for an instant! Only what we do for Christ will last!

Who Died For You?
"Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Were you baptized in the name of Paul?" (I Corinthians 1:13 NIV)
n the never-ending battle over which religion or denomination is the most important, this question should actually end all discussion. Who died for you that you might have life and that more abundantly?
As great as some of the founders of various denominations may have been--none of them were appointed to die as atonement for man's sins, but Jesus.
None of the separatists--those who pulled away from the original "doctrine that Jesus promoted" have been able to say, "through their death, mankind is saved" for all eternity.
If we look carefully at each of the "religious dogmas" we find error and confusion and reason to debate.
Peter could not have been the "rock" upon which Catholic doctrine (regarding non-marriage for priests) was established since he was married (Matthew 8:14). The doctrine was established out of need to control and an inability to comprehend what Paul was saying.
Martin Luther did not die for mankind's sins.
Buddha did not die for mankind's sins.
Mohammad did not die for mankind's sins.
John Wesley did not die for mankind's sins.
This list could go on and on, but the point here is--to make people aware that we must pay attention to who we reverence and why. God has always used "people" to accomplish His will, but that doesn't mean we should give "the people" the place of honor that does not belong to them.
Though greatness is determined by those who affix the title--none of them--died that we might have life.
And this was the warning Paul was giving--though we have respect for those who do great things, we cannot give them the place of honor that only belongs to Jesus Christ. When we attempt to put "mere men" upon pedestals, chaos and confusion reign since those men (or women) are just as imperfect as the rest of us.
So, rather than argue and debate which religion is greater or which leader is the most revered, let's focus on the One, True founder of our faith (if we say we are followers of Christ) and give Him the honor and reverence that is due Him and no one else. How can we say we believe in God and not believe that He came down from heaven in the person of Jesus Christ, clothed in flesh, like a mere man in order to save us from ourselves, with the ultimate sacrifice of His life on the cross?
He is the reason for this season--His birth, death, burial, and resurrection--all made possible by His love for us. Who else could make this claim?

One Thing!
"One thing I ask from the LORD, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple." (Psalm 27:4 NIV)
In spite of all the things we may ask of God, while we are yet here on the planet, there is only one thing that I desire of Him, after death--to live with Him for all eternity.
No matter how many movies we see--lighting the way to heaven, seeing what actors do when they are supposedly in heaven, the reality is--after death--we know nothing (in the natural) and can certainly do nothing. I've often threatened to come back and haunt some folks if they don't follow my wishes when I die, but whatever they do--will no longer concern me when I'm dead. For The Word says, "the dead know nothing" and we should not promote them knowing anything.
However, when He returns, "even the dead in Christ shall rise, first and live forever" with Him for all eternity. But in order to get there, or be "in Him" before we die, we must obey Him and do what He says for us to do. If we do not know The Word, we certainly cannot obey The Word, so I implore you today, get to know The Word, obey The Word, and expect the One Thing you seek the most to happen--in heaven for all eternity.

The Covenant of Grace!
"By calling this covenant “new,” he has made the first
one obsolete; and what is obsolete and outdated will soon disappear."
(Hebrews 8:13 NIV)
The old covenant between God and man consisting of ritualistic sacrifices for the atonement of sin, which man could not keep because of their willful nature, became obsolete, when the new covenant of grace appeared.
What is this covenant of grace? It is the recognition that God loved us so much that He was not willing to see any perish in their sins, and provided a means of escaping the fate of sinful behavior, by becoming the ultimate sacrifice for the atonement of sin. Our part in this covenant of grace--receive the finished work on the cross and obey Him in loving others. For if we love--Him and others--we will do nothing to disappoint Him or others. That's what love does!
Under the covenant of grace--we have access into heaven by simply believing and accepting The Lord Jesus Christ as our personal Savior. If He is Lord over our lives--we give Him complete control--no longer desiring to just please self, but to please Him. There is no more sacrifice for sin--just the judgment that comes with disobedience and unbelief!
Thanking God for the Covenant of Grace and for His willingness to be the ultimate sacrifice for me!

He Will Help!
"For I am the LORD your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you." (Isaiah 41:13 NIV)
When we we're in need and can't call a friend,
Who are we going to call upon?
Jesus!
When we can't see beyond the moment,
Who are we going to call upon?
Jesus!
When our bodies are wracked with pain,
And doctors have given us no hope to gain, relief,
Who are we going to call upon?
Jesus!
When children and grandchildren go astray
From all they were taught, and led away, by evil,
Who are we going to call upon?
Jesus!
When there's no food in the fridge, the cupboard bare
No money in the bank, and we sit pulling our hair,
Who are we going to call upon?
Jesus!
When darkness tends to blind hope and light,
And we realize, it is not through our might, change comes
Who are we going to call upon?
Jesus!
There is no other name, by which a man be saved,
With Him, our path of success is already paved,
In Him, through obedience to His Word,
His name is Jesus! He will help!

Not Guilty!
"For I have kept the ways of the LORD; I am not guilty of turning from my God." (Psalm 18:21 NIV)
Will we ever be in a position--like David--to say, "I'm not guilty of turning away from my God?"
As individuals, we can say we're not guilty of a number of things--we're not guilty of breaking the laws of the land, we're not guilty of breaking marriage vows, we're not guilty of hating for no reason, but as a nation, would our declaration be a lie?
Those who are elected officials, who swore to look out for the best interests of all the people, they cannot make this declaration.
Judges, who are either elected or appointed--cannot make this declaration.
Police officers, hired and paid with tax-payer dollars, cannot make this declaration.
Lawmakers and lawbreakers, like Siamese Twins--cannot make this declaration.
Preachers--those who say God called them to promote the Gospel--cannot make this declaration.
Of course, there are a few--who can state without fear of contradiction, that they have not turned away from God, but when we look at the state of the nation, how many can truly make that declaration?
God knows and since it He has already proclaimed that only a remnant will be saved in the end, the few who are faithful, are not a surprise to Him.
When we turn back to God, and do things the way He has said we should do them, honoring Him in all aspects of our living, then and only then, can we say, emphatically, "I'm not guilty" of turning away from God!

Love Preserves!
"Love the LORD, all his faithful people! The LORD preserves those who are true to him, but the proud he pays back in full."(Psalm 31:24 NIV)
God is love and love is of God, if we do not love, we do not know God. When we love, we preserve relationships--keep them from failing or falling apart and keeps us from thinking about harming others or dishonoring God. His love--saves us from ourselves and preserves us unto the day of His coming where we will know our final disposition with Him.
This is what The Lord does for those who are faithful to Him.
But the proud--those who determine, they do not need to know Him, honor Him, or obey Him--those He pays back in full, by allowing them to go their own way and suffer the consequences of their choices.
Salt is a natural preservative--used in keeping foods fresher longer, especially canned goods and in earlier times, used to preserve meats.
Love is a spiritual preservative--used in keeping loved ones safe and protected, especially in families and since we are in The Family--with God The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, we are safe and protected from the wiles of the enemy, who wants us destroyed.
Think about the love shown towards us as we celebrate this season--love that determined our final destiny by the decision He made to come down in the likeness of sinful flesh, yet did not sin, and took upon Himself--sin, so we might be saved. That's preserving power of Love!

Never in the Dark!
"You, LORD, keep my lamp burning; my God turns my darkness into light." (Psalm 18:28 NIV)
If a person has ever found themselves in total darkness, blackness, where not even a pinpoint of light is present, they know the importance of having access to light. When a person is in total darkness, hope diminishes, faith fades, and panic erupts.
Does this sound like the position we find ourselves in when we are cloaked in the darkness of sin?
Even though some succumb to the clutches of sin, ever struggling to get away from it, if they see a glimmer of light, they remain hopeful. Hope is what we have in The Light and with hope, faith can soar and we can know peace and calm in the midst of any situation that arises in our lives.
Darkness--in a number of instances in The Word is symbolic for sin and the influence of Satan. Light and lamps are symbols for hope and faith in God. Light and lamps are mentioned 248 times in the bible and darkness 142 times; light overrides and dispels darkness, every time.
Can a person accomplish anything in total darkness? What can be accomplished when the light of truth is spread all around us? One method of torture used by those seeking information in times of war and terrorism is darkness--when a person is kept in total darkness for specific amounts of time. In darkness--our imaginations rule and every possible horrible thing, invades our thinking.
Once we see the light--even the tiniest point of light--shine, we begin to hope again.
Jesus reminds us that we must work while it is day--the light of the sunshine--helps us to see, for when darkness comes, no man can work.
Keep struggling to get out from under the cloak of darkness that invades and leaves you hopeless! Receive all who bring truth as a light unto your path and allow hope and faith to reign, never in the dark, again!

Knowing The Ways!
"For the LORD knows the way of the righteous, But the way of the ungodly shall perish." (Psalm 1:6 NKJV)
When I rise and when I raise up,
When I sleep and when I fall tired,
When and why I laugh,
When and why I cry,
When and why I raise my hands in praise,
When and why I drop my head in guilt,
Whatever I do, say, see, or hear,
Whatever moves me--to love or doubt,
There is nothing I can do or think,
That He does not already know about.
He knows all about me and should
Since He is The One Who created me
And chose me before I was ever born,
Knew while I still a thought in my parents' minds,
One day, they would be gone, and I would be left behind.
But because of His love and the path He planned,
Even when I fell short, I could count on His Loving Hand,
Bringing me back where I belonged, so He could teach
Me all I needed about right and wrong so I could preach
His Word as He taught, and walk in His anointing, ordained
By His love, saved by His grace, kept by His mercy,
Forever grateful for His favor, unearned, but given,
Like wisdom and faith, without measure, my choice in choosing,
Following Him and allowing Him--to have me in using,
All He's given to promote, the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Just like He knows about me, He knows about you, and you, and you! Hallelujah!
When I rise and when I raise up,
When I sleep and when I fall tired,
When and why I laugh,
When and why I cry,
When and why I raise my hands in praise,

Hallelujah!

In The Book!
"All who are victorious will be clothed in white. I will
never erase their names from the Book of Life, but I will announce
before my Father and his angels that they are mine." (Revelation 3:5
NLT)
Is your name in the book of life?
There are a number of thoughts about how one gets their name in the book, but if we read The Word carefully, and comprehend what it means to be victorious--we'll know.
In this vision from Jesus, we are told that if we repent--of all sin--turn away from it and turn to God--with our whole hearts, we will wear white (robes) signalling accomplishment in living right before The Lord--during the White Throne Judgment--where we'll receive our crowns and be assigned our mansions (poetically speaking)! Once we have been "certified" victorious, Jesus will announce us before the Father and the angels, that we belong to Him.
As much as I read--secular books--and as much as I write, I don't think anything I've read or written will be quite like this book. There's a segment in The Book of Life that's all about me--my name--written in the precious blood of The Lamb! How awesome is that!
For Believers--we have something to look forward to when Jesus returns; for non-believers--well, only Jesus can determine their fate, just as He has determined the fate of all who believe.
If there is anything in your life, right now, right this minute, that would hinder your name being written in The Book of Life--let it go and open your heart to Him who saves and redeems, clearing the path for having a right relationship with The Father so you, too can be assured of being announced because your name--is in the book!

My Nano Novel
The first three chapters of my novel written during the 2014 NaNoWriMo, are posted http://www.jukepop.com/home/read/6067?chapter=1 Please read, comment, and vote for me!
Restoring Relationship!
"For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God
through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we
shall be saved by His life." (Romans 5:10 NKJV)
How did we become--enemies, separated from relationship with God in the first place? Sin--the disobedience of Adam (both the male and female were called Adam since they were "one" in God's sight). Before the fall--they were in position to converse with God on a daily basis and were not ashamed of their nakedness in the Garden of Eden. When they succumbed to Satan's influence and allowed their "lust" of their eyes to override their heart, they were exposed to themselves as "fallible human beings" and created a gap between them and the "infallible" God of Heaven.
Time after time, God made a way for people to be reconciled to Him, and time after time, people failed to obey--The Law and The Prophets. Loving His creation the way He did, He decided to come down and once and all, bridge the gap created by sin, so we would be saved from ourselves and our relationship with Him, restored.
Since Jesus--was God in the flesh--it was important that His life remain untainted until the end when He who knew no sin, became sin for all of us and was the ultimate sacrifice, offered for the remission of sin and reconciliation with The Father.
Unless we have a heart to know God, understanding how much He loves us by what He did will never make sense. But once we know, every time we think of His sacrifice, our hearts should be flooded with tears of gratitude and our minds made up to live to please Him. Just knowing that He hears me when I call upon Him, sees every effort I make to live right, and feels every pain that I feel, is enough for me--to praise Him, for the rest of my life. Hallelujah!

Short Version!
I realize that sometimes, I get carried away and forget that not
everyone wants to read a long blog. So, here's the shorter version of my
blog from this morning, based upon 2 Timothy 3:16, 17.
Don't argue about The Word with anyone who attempts to refute it, but do encourage them to read it first--then come back so a reasonable and intelligent discussion can be had and enjoyed by all.
Gotta love you!

Inspired, Prepared, and Equipped!
"All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us
what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It
corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work." (2 Timothy 3:16, 17 NLT)
I love it when I can go to The Word and be encouraged, when so many people make discouragement their past time. For all who claim that the Bible is merely a book and should have no bearing on our lives, proves they have not read what they attempt to refute.
Yes, the Bible is a book--a book that is a record of not only man's history (snap-shot version), but a record of all God has ever done for those He loves.
No, the Bible is not a novel and should never be read as though it was. For those who attempt to read it as such, they will discover (if their comprehension is finely tuned) that the chronology of events is not based on a sequential timeline nor is the layout of bible.
No, the Bible is not a book of fiction and for one to ascertain the truth of this statement, one needs to merely situate a credible history book beside the events that occur in the bible. It is a snap-shot record of historical events, divinely inspired to make sure Believers understand how God moved among His people throughout that history.
Yes, the Bible or book of scriptures as some would call it--was written by the hands of man (mankind), but inspired by God who spoke to whoever was willing to listen.
I've heard some say that there are too many translations saying too many things and so they refuse to believe any of it. That is truly sad. No matter how many versions of the bible are produced, none of the essence of what God has said or how He wants us to live--will ever change. Now, when people manipulate the "intent" of God's Word, that is an entirely different matter. For a number of reasons, some have felt the need to: remove gender, remove references of hell, and to remove references of sin. For them--judgment before God will be swift since their intent is to deceive and deception is influenced by the devil. It really takes having a Relationship with God to understand how He operates versus how man thinks about what He does.
Some have said they do not believe the King James Version because he was gay. He may have been; I wasn't around. What they have overlooked is the fact that regardless of his "sexual orientation," the king did not write the version--he authorized its translation from the original languages (Hebrew and Greek). His purpose in having the bible translated into "the King's English" was to make sure ordinary people could understand it (which happens to be why many are producing bibles in more contemporary language, but not manipulating the intent of the words).
Thank You, Father for inspiring people to write what You say, preparing us to live a life that is pleasing to You, and equipping us to do so through Holy Spirit's direction and guidance. Hallelujah!

Can We Hear?
“He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.” (Revelation 2:29 NKJV)
This admonition is repeated seven times in this Revelation to John by Holy Spirit--and if we believe that seven is the symbolic representation of completion, it is a finished work--the Revelation--and we must hear in order to get ready for His return.
Why do we need to hear? Because in the revealed work--we are reminded of the seven types of churches--their character traits, their strengths and their weaknesses. Regardless of what denomination we proclaim to have an affiliation with, we all fit into one of these types that persist. God knows from the beginning to the end, what we will do and when we will hear and change, which is why is mercy and compassion is so important to us--He gives us room to repent and turn to Him, time after time, but there will come a day, when we will no longer have time to change, so we must make that change--now!
Throughout this book, we are reminded of all these things that the prophets (and all who God used) have said and as Solomon reminds us Ecclesiastes, there is nothing new under the sun.God has used people, those chosen by Him to remind mankind throughout our history to choose to do right--His right--and forsake all those things that do not honor Him.
Some of us--as in times past--have selective hearing. We have read The Word, we have heard The Word, and many know when Holy Spirit speaks, but yet we do not hear and obey. When we selectively choose which parts of the message we will hear, we put ourselves into position to miss God and eventually, we will enticed to believe that other spirit, rather than Holy Spirit because that other spirit--manipulates and deceives and tries to make things "sound" like God when they are not.
Engage in conversation with The Lord today and hear what Holy Spirit has to say about everything around us and when you hear--obey for "obedience is better than sacrifice."
Going to church--a good thing when The Word is being taught--does not mean a person has a relationship with God. Memorizing scripture--though a good thing--does not mean we have a relationship with God. We need to know what He said, believe that He is and will be, and obey His commands to love. When we do this, we establish a right relationship with Him and then we can praise Him no matter what happens in our lives because we know--in the end, we win!

Ocean Depths!
"He will again have compassion on us, And will subdue our
iniquities. You will cast all our sins Into the depths of the sea."
(Micah 7:19 NKJV)
Because of God's mercy towards us--He will not stay angry with us forever, and when we repent of our sins, His mercy and compassion are so great that He forgives us and tosses our sins into the depths of the seas.
The key to having our sins tossed into the sea is our repentance--turning away from those things that do not honor God in any way and turning to God, honoring Him in all we do.
Many--who want to live any way they want to live--espouse God's love and criticize anyone else who mentions sin, saying we should only talk about love. Well, God is love and He loves us all, but He will not tolerate disobedience any more than our natural parents will. The rules don't change because of His love, but the rules are established because of His love.
Be careful of the tricks of the enemy who would blind to truth and attempt to get one to believe that God's Love cancels His rules, when in fact, it is just the opposite. When we love--we want to keep our loved ones safe from harm. God's Love wants to keep us safe from harm and keep us in position to receive His many benefits. If we love Him, we'll obey Him. When we refuse to obey Him, we are in fact obeying Satan who wants confusion and disorder and chaos to reign so we cannot hear God when He speaks.
I am so grateful for God's forgiveness and His giving me a another chance to get things right with Him, that I know my sins are at the bottom of the ocean and no one--doing any deep-sea fishing, will be able to snare them and bring them up to Him again. Hallelujah!

Won't Cost Anything!
"Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise. Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works." (Hebrews 10:23,24 NLT)
Everyone wants to save money or at least get the best bargain for their bucks. Well, if we would just do the things that God has asked us to do, we could change the world and it won't cost us anything.
How much does it cost to "hold tightly to the hope" we have in God? When we know we can trust Him to keep His Word, we can sail through this life, without worry, even in the midst of chaos and confusion, economic uncertainty, misguided leadership, and look upon events that cause others to cringe and know--we are to be anxious for nothing. The cost to us cannot be measured in dollars and cents, but purely by faith which is increased by us hearing The Word.
How much would it cost us to motivate others to acts of love and good works? While it may take a little and creativity to determine how to reach some and encourage them--the time will be well spent and the results--priceless.
Whenever we tell someone we love them or remind them of God's unfailing love, we ignite (hopefully) an on-going trend to share love and when we love, we desire to do good for others. It is difficult for me to imagine anyone doing anything that would cause harm to others if they are truly filled with the love of God.
Rather than draw attention to ourselves by attempting to hurt others, let's bring attention to ourselves by showing the world what love does and when love operates in the heart of every Believer, hate doesn't stand a chance and the cost to us--absolutely nothing!
So let's hold tight to our faith and use that faith in God to be creative enough to provoke others to love and do good works--and watch how God works miracles in the lives of others and guess what--it won't cost us anything, but time and love! The best gifts are given out of love, not what we spent out of our pockets.

Mightier Than The Sword! (Excerpt 2))
The moment she
thought about their ability to solve crimes, she got a check in her spirit that
was so strong that she opened her eyes and looked around her. It was almost as
if someone had spoken aloud, but she knew she was alone in the bungalow.
“That’s odd. I
wonder where that thought came from,” she wondered aloud.
She pulled out
her bible and put on her glasses to read for a while. While she was reading,
again she got a check in her spirit. The thought came to her, “this rest will
not be for long.”
“What the heck
does mean?” She pulled her glasses off and sat nibbling on the end of the stem
of eyeglasses, lost in thought.
Laying her head
back against the chair in which she was sitting, she closed her eyes and before
she knew it, she was asleep and dreaming. Her dreams encompassed the energy draining
case they had just closed in which a white male had systematically chosen his
victims—females between the ages of 21 and 25, light-complexioned, with short,
close-cropped hair styles. He had abducted and raped them and then chained them
in abandoned buildings, with their mouths duct-taped, left to die.
Fourteen
women had been found dead in three different states before they finally caught
him—in the act of abducting female number fifteen. A witness to the abduction had
the presence of mind to videotape the attempt while screaming for someone to
call 911. The woman escaped and the man had fled, but not before video of his
car was made. When police arrived with the FBI, the woman and the witnesses
were able to give a good description and helicopter units were on the scene
within minutes. They had found him cowering in what appeared to be the next
abandoned building he had planned to use for his victim. In his car, they found
a knife, duct-tape, and a chain-ripper with a roll of chain links.
When questioned
about the deaths of the women, he was vile and spewed profanity venomously at
anyone with short hair. He wore his hair long and it was matted and tangled,
making him look like a mad-man in a horror movie.
The psychologist who had profiled the killer
had already intimated that the killer was someone who hated short-haired
females because they reminded them of men who might have harmed them when they
were younger. Eventually, they were able to ascertain that the killer had
witnessed his father, raping young, light complexioned black girls just for the
fun of it and had attempted to get him involved. During an attempt to rape
another victim, his father was killed when the victim fought back and stabbed
him to death. Watching from a hole in a wall where his father dragged his
victims, he could not get help for him before he died. Apparently, in his mind,
he was avenging his father’s death by raping the women and leaving them to die.
Tiffany groaned
in her sleep and then turned over into another position. She saw drops of blood
circling her and someone with a hood over their face holding a sword. Just as
they got close enough to raise the sword to strike, she woke up, drenched in
sweat.
Shaking like a
leaf, she got out of the chair to get a cold drink. She stood at the sink,
holding onto it for fear she’d fall, if she let go of it. Getting a glass out
of the cabinet, she opened the refrigerator and took out a bottle of water. Her
hand was still shaking as she poured the water into the glass. Lifting the
glass with both hands, she was able to steady the glass in order to drink the
water, but she was so shaken by the dream that before she could finish the
water, the glass slipped from her hand and broke.
Stepping back
from the broken glass, she leaned against the wall and forced herself to stop
shaking before she attempted to get up the broken glass.
“Breathe,” she
told herself out loud, “Breathe!”
Spotting the
broom and dustpan in the corner, she retrieved them and swept up the broken
glass, but not before a splinter of glass pricked her finger and drops of blood
formed a circle on the floor.
She stood
frozen—thinking about the dream—and knew that something horrible was about to
happen, but she didn’t know what.
Using self-talk to
propel herself into motion, she made her way to the bathroom, cleansed the area
around the cut and applied antiseptic before wrapping her finger in a bandage.
Going back to her
chair, she picked up her glasses, spontaneously chewing on the end, as she
became lost in thought.
“Now is not the
time for panic,” she told herself. “Now is the time to reflect upon the
possibilities and prepare for the unknown.”
