Where Is Your Trust?

Where Is Your Trust?
“Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God” Psalm 20:7

How many people—still—place their trust in everything and everyone, but God? Did we not learn anything from those who came before us? Have we still hardened our hearts to the truth of God’s Word?

How do we know that people do not trust God to fulfill His promises to us? That is very simple. We look at the trust people put into political candidates to do what is right and then angry with them when they don’t do what we want them to do. We look at the “lotteries” that are played all over the nation. More people put their trust into playing a lottery number than they do in obeying God’s Word. We look at church leaders and assume that those who have larger churches have the greatest connection to God. We know what assuming does!

Everyone (from appearances of all observed) wants success and wealth, but most seem to think that there are shortcuts to obtaining them. For every shortcut attempted, a backward slide ignites. So then, most people who think a shortcut is the answer end up doing the moonwalk—Michael Jackson style—backwards. They lose money, status, and some the will to live past their obvious blunders.
If people want to travel the true path of success, they must adhere to The Word. If we keep God’s commandments, then everything we put our hands on will prosper and we will have good success. We must do things the way God outlines them! When we do not—we can only look forward to seeing our efforts crumble before us!

“Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help; and stay on horses, and trust in chariots, because
they are many; and in horsemen, because they are very strong; but they look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the LORD!” Isaiah 31:1

When we think we know—anything—apart from what God has said, we set ourselves up for disaster! This is why when stock markets crash; people commit suicide. This is why when children are disobedient; they end up in jail or prisons. This is why when husbands cheat on wives with other women and men, sexually transmitted diseases kill. This is why the nation is in turmoil and confusion reigns because leaders—political and spiritual—have left God’s Word and have chosen to be popular rather than Godly.

Our trust—for everything in all situations—should only be in God because He is the only wise One who can determine our future without benefit of guessing or taking a chance or being concerned about popularity. Where is your trust?

“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” Proverbs 3:5, 6
