Hold Onto The Word--No Matter How It's Obtained!

"So then, brothers and sisters, stand firm and hold fast to the teachings we passed on to you, whether by word of mouth or by letter. May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word." (2 Thessalonians 2:15-17 NIV)

In the days of the prophets--those used by God specifically to speak what God wanted them to say, they encouraged the Children of Israel to hold onto God's Word and obey.

Beyond the prophets of old--Jesus and those who followed Him--said the same thing--hold onto the Word and obey.

Near Paul's end, he encouraged all--not just those in Thessalonica, but all who would believe and obey the Word--whether they heard it directly from Timothy or others sent to them or by the letters he wrote to them.

Today, there is no excuse for anyone to claim they have no access to The Word. The Word is being preached on television, preached in churches on just about every corner, taught in bible studies in homes across America, and streamed on the Internet. Bloggers who are faithful Believers are constantly explicating The Word in order to break it down so all who read can and will understand. Bible apps are available for every type of digital technology, anyone could own. And yet--so many either won't believe or obey The Word of God.

For those of us who will continue to proclaim God's Word--we know and understand the consequences of our actions. People may not like us or follow us on social media, but God is pleased and our goal--to please God is obtained.

I'm always amazed at some who follow me on Twitter--especially when my profile clearly identifies me as a Believer and Follower of Jesus Christ. I guess some don't bother to read the profiles or the posts before deciding to follow me and then quickly unfollow me when I post something that contradicts what they believe or rather--reveals the foolishness of unbelief in the Most High God.

The unfollows don't bother me--I simply shake my head and smile. But no matter how many people unfollow me--I will hold fast to The Word and continue to explicate it as God directs me. If something is said that convicts others of sin and wrongdoing, Amen! The Word--if taught correctly--should convict all of sin and encourage us to live to please God, and that includes the one who writes the blog. I know what I've written has often hit me over the head and made me realize just how much growing in grace I have yet to do. And that's okay--The Word--sharper than a two-edged sword--cuts going in and out. What He gives me to say is not just for those who read it, but for the one who writes it. Ouch! I'm not immune to convicting power of The Word.

Now, even though I study The Word and profess it, gladly with the least provocation--I realize just how much I have to learn. I don't think I could live long enough to reach a place where I could legitimately think--I've learned it all. So, even though what I write may sting others, it has found it's mark in me, but I will hold onto The Word, no matter how it's obtained and allow The Word to wash me, thoroughly cleansing and igniting desire to know more.

This day, I am encouraging all to study The Word, hold onto The Word and obey and get ready to receive God's promises, fulfilled in your lifetime.

Are We Praying?

"Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains. Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should. Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone." (Colossians 4:2-6 NIV)

When I think about what I might do if I was in chains, I wonder if I would have had the fortitude that Paul had. I honestly don't know the answer to that because I've never been locked away from people or in chains. I can only pray that my devotion to God would enable me to do likewise.

But that's the key--devotion--totally dedicated and committed to doing what is needful. Although most of us are appalled with the way the terrorist groups treat Christians, we must admit they are totally devoted to their goal--no matter how inhuman it is. They are so committed to accomplishing their goal they are willing to die to see it come to pass.

I don't want to be involved with taking the life of a another human being, but wouldn't it be great if the rest of us were as devoted to spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ as the terrorists are in trying to decimate us?

This, then is why Paul encouraged the church at Colosse (and us) to devote ourselves to prayer--being in constant communication with God about everything that concerns us. He cautions us to be watchful--paying attention to the changes taking place around, hearing Holy Spirit when He warns us of things to come, and taking whatever action we need to take to make sure the way of the Gospel is never blocked or closed to all those who desire to hear it.

Let's face it--we have not always heeded Paul's advice which is why there are so many changes in our society--and not all of them good. We were not being watchful when Madeline Murray O'Hara decided that her children didn't need to be exposed to anyone praying in schools. The Body of Christ didn't think she'd accomplish her goal and did nothing and so today, the school systems all over the country are running amuck because open prayer is not allowed. In other words--the devil won that round. But there are still those who are devoted to praying--and students are leading prayer circles in limited situations. Hooray for the brave, bold students, but what happened to the adults who should have been fighting for the rights of all to hear and agree with the prayers?

Once again, Christian Leadership in the country failed to act on warnings by Holy Spirit and the Supreme Court has led the way for the downward spiral of morality and we shall soon see such decadent immorality that it will make our dead ancestors cringe in unbelief. Were we praying before issues reached the Supreme Court? Were we praying that our elected body of legislators would do their jobs?

Are we praying--even now--or have we become complacent and apathetic--willing to just let things take their course?

My daily prayer includes thanking God for wisdom being poured out upon every leader in this country--that they will hear from heaven and act accordingly. I'm praying that those who made the decision to legalize sin would repent and for those participating in sinful acts would repent and seek God. I thank God for the ability to love, the boldness to teach His Word, and the wisdom to know what to say and when. I thank God for inspiring me to teach my children and grandchildren to learn to please God, not man. And more importantly, I've taught them to seek God--communicating with Him on a daily basis--for answers to all their questions and solutions for all their problems.

Are we praying? Are we devoted to seeking God for every situation we encounter--for peace in the world and salvation for all?

Lord, give us insight to know that we will never have the answers for all the world's problems, but You do. And when You speak to us--directing us in how to help solve them, give us an ear to hear and a made-up mind to do--just as You direct us to do, exercising Godly wisdom at all times. Thank You for loving us enough to give us chance after chance to get things right before You return. In Jesus' name, I pray, Amen!

Rejoice--The Lord is Near!

"Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." (Philippians 4:4-7 NIV)

I will rejoice, I will rejoice, I will rejoice!

Why will I be glad?  The Lord is near and His peace is guarding my heart and mind--I have no need to fear or be anxious about anything. I know when I place my concerns before Him, He will address each and everyone and respond to His child because He loves me and cares about everything concerning me!

If this is the attitude most people have in life--there would be fewer problems because we know that He is the solution to every problem. We don't have to know the answer; we just have to know the One who has all the answers.

When we know Him--have a deeply personal relationship with Him and we know His Word--we can relax when trials and challenges rise to defeat us because we know--we have victory in Jesus! Hallelujah! Rejoice! The devil is a defeated foe! Jesus put him under our feet and now it's our job to keep him there. Remind him of his place every time he raises his ugly head--trying to influence our thoughts, leading to destruction.

Rise up O Believers in the most High God and know that He will never leave us or forsake us. Shout with a loud voice the victory is already won!

We must speak The Word over every situation that attempts to deter or distract us from receiving God's best! We have the power in the Holy Ghost to keep the enemy defeated, but we must know what we have in order to use it--wisely, never doubting what God has done.

When we pray, our faith must remain steadfast, even when it doesn't "look" like God is responding. He knows our needs and our hearts desire whether we speak them or not, but He wants us to come to Him, boldly--placing our petitions before Him and expecting Him to act on our behalf.

We have a reason to rejoice in The Lord! We should be glad that He loved us enough to die for us, went into the depths of hell and fought the enemy on his turf and won, rising up from the grave with all power in His hands and then--giving that power to all who choose to believe that He is!

No matter what happens this day or the next, we need to complete this journey called life--knowing that we have a Risen Savior and through Him, we can do all things and with Him, nothing is impossible for us to achieve. We need to act like we Believe His Word on a daily basis and not just be mealy-mouthed people who say one thing, but do another.

I believe every Word of God--know and understand why He inspired men to write it--know and understand why I must love others as He loves me--know and understand why I must obey His Word and because I know and understand His purpose for my life, I can rest assured of my eternity with Him. Not that I am a perfect being, but He is a perfect God and He said, perfect love--loving unconditionally, drives out fear--so I have no need to fear what others may say or think of me.

I have victory in Jesus and I will rejoice in His love for me--and because I love Him, I will live for Him! Hallelujah! I'm declaring every promise fulfilled and completed in this life time, in Jesus' name for every Believer who is willing to stand--never wavering, but always believing--in faith--right now and it is done!

Taught To Love By God!

"Now about your love for one another we do not need to write to you, for you yourselves have been taught by God to love each other. And in fact, you do love all of God's family throughout Macedonia. Yet we urge you, brothers and sisters, to do so more and more, and to make it your life ambition to lead a quiet life: You should mind your own business and work with your hands, just as we told you, so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anybody." (I Thessalonians 4: 9-12 NIV).

Now, if we have been taught by God how to love--open to receiving His love and in hearing His voice and acting in obedience, we truly know how to love others--unconditionally.  This should be true of every Believer--no matter what banner or domination they espouse, the color of their skin, or nationality. Baptists should love Methodists and Methodists should love Catholics and Catholics should Pentecostals and Pentecostals should love Baptists--a circle of love should truly light up the world of--unbelievers because of our love for one another.

But does it happen this way? Probably not--and the reason that it probably doesn't is because human nature dictates what we do, rather than the Spirit of God in that everyone wants to be superior to everyone else. No one is, but that doesn't stop us from trying to be.

Time is far spent and we are closer to His return than ever before--whenever that occurs. While we yet have a chance, we should spend the time wisely, loving one another, promoting the Gospel--not gossip and rumors--so that everyone who sees and watches us will be convinced that we have been taught to love by God--unconditionally.

Loving others unconditionally does not mean we condone sin of any nature. We love the sinner and hate the sin and try by living a sinless life to convince them to love as God loves and obey Him. This is where the naysayers get it wrong. They think because we "hate sin" (all sin), that we cannot love those who sin. If God can love us in spite of our sins, who are we to deny another love? God doesn't approve of our sin and there are consequences when we choose to sin, but He never stops loving us.

Real love--for another person--always means that we want the very best for them. No one can receive God's best for their lives if they refuse to obey Him and when we obey Him out of love, rather than fear, He sees and rewards our faith in Him that motivates us to love Him and others.

When we love--we know how to approach others about the Gospel of Jesus Christ--with love, not aggression and violence, and browbeating. That is not to say our message should be sugar-coated, but we can indeed win more souls to Christ with kindness than we can by condemning them.

People living in sin are already condemned by their consciences--they don't need us piling on more weight to their already heavy burden.  Look at the those who kill others and then kill themselves--their consciences troubled them enough to commit suicide. Some would say that suicide is a cowardly act--and in most cases I would agree, but even being a coward is a result of self-condemnation.

Until we learn to love ourselves--it is impossible to love others--the way God loves us. So, if we really want to learn to love, we must allow God to teach us to love--unconditionally, learn to love ourselves and then we can demonstrate the love we've been taught, by loving others in the same way.

Believers' Instructions for Daily Living (Part 4)

"Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed--not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence--continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose. Do everything without grumbling or arguing so that you may become blameless and pure, "children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation" Then you will shine among them likes stars in the sky as you hold firmly to the word of life. And then I will be able to boast on the day of Christ that I did not run or labor in vain." (Philippians 2:12-16 NIV)

Did you ever think about the phrase--"when the cat is away the mice will play" and what it means? In this analogy, the cat is the authority and the mice the subservient to the cat. So, while the cat is in their presence, they do what they must do--play hide and seek to keep from being destroyed. When the cat is away--the mice roam freely and are totally unconcerned about being caught.

Some people honor the authority in their lives only when the authority is present--right there--can't be missed. Employees will do their jobs while the boss is in their office, but if the boss is out of the office, many can hear a collective sigh of relief and most get lazy and lounge--doing absolutely nothing.

When teachers are out of their classrooms for a day or days--a substitute teacher can count on not getting anything done because the students have determined--the teacher isn't here and we don't have to do any work--even if work was left for them to do. I've heard all the stories--"the sub lost it; I didn't know we had to turn it in, the sub didn't give us any work, I took it home and forgot to bring it back." Students make up so many excuses for not doing work that they could have saved themselves some time by simply doing the work.

Paul understood that when he was around, the people honored his presence and he's commending them on doing so and encouraging them to keep on doing the right thing--whether he's there or not. And that is what all Believers should be doing, right now. Living like we know (because it's true) that God is present--in our midst at all times--and we should do the right thing at all times.

I know many won't understand this because they're thinking on a carnal level. "I can't be good all the time." Yes, we can. When we know God's Word and have a relationship with Him, we can be good all the time. The thing that keeps us from being good is our flesh--when we give in to temptation to fit in with others who don't know Him. I'm guilty--not intentionally, but guilty nonetheless.
Sometimes, my flesh overrides my spirit and I'm immediately impressed by Holy Spirit that I need to repent for the things I allow to escape through my lips. "Grieve not the Holy Spirit" I hear every time I mess up. The bottom line is--I'm more careful to not mess up, but when I do, He reminds me--He's right there and hears everything I say and sees everything I do.

The biggest problem for Believers is when they tend to act like God can't see or is deaf. He's always in the midst of everything we do and yes--He can see and hear it all. Now, we have a decision to make--to honor Him at all times, recognizing His presence or to act like He's only around in church on Sundays. It's our choice, and the world needs us to make it right now--for our time on this side of eternity is almost over and we have many souls to introduce to Jesus before He returns. 
Let's do all things as unto The Lord, desiring to please Him only!

Belivers' Instructions for Daily Living (Part 3)

"Be very careful, then, how you live--not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord's will is. Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ." (Ephesians 5:15-20 NIV)

How many times or how many ways can those of us who know how God  wants us to live say--BE CAREFUL for the enemy is out to destroy you?

When I think about how many times I've heard that phrase or how many times I've said it, I can imagine it has been said more times than anyone could count. We hear it all the time--be careful! We tell children--be careful! We tell parents--be careful! We tell teachers--be careful!  We tell students--be careful! In all walks of life, we're telling people to be careful--of situations, circumstances and certainly the enemy who is a master of deception and the father of liars. We tend to forget that his job is to steal, kill and destroy. And though we are told that angels are encamped around us--we still forget--to be careful.

This admonition to the saints is a standard warning--be careful how you live--especially in front of those who do not know Jesus and yet we proclaim to know Him, but those watching us--wouldn't know it.

We are to be living epistles--read of men--daily and so it is important that they see us as ambassadors for Jesus Christ. They should not see us slipping and sliding out of motels, out of the bars, out of the strip joints, out of the casinos, or any other place we wouldn't want exposed--as being part of our lives.  The drug dens, the whorehouses, the church where anything goes and in the midst of family gatherings that have no clue as to who Jesus is and they certainly won't believe us--if we're not living the life.

Living a life that is pleasing to God is not easy when flesh is always clamoring for the life we used to know. You know, the one in which we did everything to please us-before we knew what God expected of us. Oh yeah, first we have to admit where we were before we can appreciate what being in a relationship with Him really means. In order to please God, we must kill fleshly desires that are not honoring to God. We must put a muzzle over our mouths and guard our tongues. We must pay attention to the music we hear and the movies we watch or the books we read. Why? Because if our lives before Christ could be enticed again--we stand constantly in the need of forgiveness and make His sacrifice pointless. Jesus sacrificed Himself--once--for all who are willing to turn from sin and live according to God's Word.

Every time we allow the enemy to entice us back into the pit from which we have been pulled out--we're saying we need another savior. There is none other than Jesus who saves and we should not make His hanging on the cross a mockery simply because we refuse to discipline our flesh. We can do it--especially when we're not on drunken binge or high from substances that will eventually clog brain cells and kill the body. If we want to get high--we should get high on Jesus--allowing Holy Spirit to fill us and guide our every move and we will have nothing to fear--no diseases, no sickness, no judgment--just thanksgiving to God for all He has done!

Encourage One Another With These Words!

"According to the Lord's Word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. Therefore, encourage one another with these words." (I Thessalonians 4:15-18 NIV)

On a subject that not many care to discuss, but should--death. There is one reality that all must face--we are born to die, unless the Lord returns before that event occurs. However, though there is a physical death, we can look forward to rising upon His return so that we will be with Him forever.

On a secular scale--most people simply see death as a natural occurrence--and it is. But for those of us who are living a Spirit-filled life, we know that physical death is simply part of the transition to getting into heaven.

For those who are truly Believers, death should never frighten us; especially if we have lived our lives to please God. While there are those around us who are dying daily, from sickness and disease, and we're praying--we should be mindful that when a person dies who has suffered pain and anguish, death is also a form of healing for when they are gone--their suffering ends. 

And while we miss loved ones who go before us--if they knew the Lord, we can be thankful that they, too shall reign with Him when He makes His glorious return.

For this reason--so all will rise at the sound of the trumpet and command--Believers should be a witness of God's mercy and grace, telling all they can the Good News about the work on the Cross. When we become saved--our job is just beginning--for the Lord would have all men to be saved and once we have accepted the sacrifice Jesus made for us and are living for Him, we should want everyone we know to know the Savior who loves us. And we should keep telling the good news until we reach the stage of our own transition.

Therefore, death as a conformity of life--should not be feared, nor should we spend time grieving over much for those who have made the transition, but we should rejoice in the knowledge that one day--they shall rise and reign with us, all with The Lord. Though our hearts may hurt for a time, our spirits should soar and heal the hurt--remembering all the good things and continuing to spread the Gospel until we are finished with earthly works.

While we yet have time to do so--and we must make the most of every hour we have--we need to share the love of God and encourage all to Believe in our Risen Savior so we won't have to be sad when they depart this earthly realm. We encourage others to get into The Word of God, develop a relationship with Him, and know that when we're gone--they will seek The Lord for comfort and be assured of our rising from the dead upon His return--before all who are left alive--whose hearts belong to Jesus.

Therefore, when we experience consoling someone who has lost a loved one or even if we lose a loved one, encourage all with these words--their end is not The End--if they know The Lord.

Believers' Instructions for Daily Living (Part 2)

"Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things God's wrath comes on those who are disobedient. Therefore do not be partners with them. For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light (for the light consists in all goodness, righteousness, and truth) and find out what pleases the Lord. Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them." (Ephesians 5:6-11 NIV).

What are empty words? I can think of a few--political correctness, alternative lifestyles, inclusiveness, living in the moment, just do it, it's about me, no pain-no gain, God doesn't care what we do, and the list could go on and on. The fact of the matter is--God cares very much about what we and what we say.

Jesus said, "let your yea be yea and your nay be nay--for anything more is sin." In other words, our communication with one another should be concise and specific. We should say what we mean and mean what we say.

How many times have people been hurt when they discover the object of their affection--the one who claimed to love them--doesn't really love them. In fact, they have demonstrated repeatedly that they don't love themselves and if people can't love themselves, they certainly can't love someone else. But they said, "I love you." Did they even know what that four letter word means? If they used it to persuade or entice to get someone to do something they normally wouldn't, they are empty words.

 Young girls are enticed into having sex with males (and females) when someone says, "I love you." The same is true for some males when enticed by other males. ALL SEXUAL ACTIVITY OUTSIDE OF GOD-DEFINED MARRIAGE IS SIN! Just wanted to make sure this point is made before I go any further. And for those who want to debate the point, try debating with someone who doesn't know God. I know Him and I will not debate what He has said since it is so clearly defined and graphically described.

People have been enticed into committing crimes with those words, "I love you." There are a number of people sitting in jail cells right now because they did something stupid for someone else who led them to believe, they loved them.

People who really love others would not do anything to cause the object of their affection any grief.
They certainly wouldn't want them spending time in prison or in having an incurable sexually-transmitted disease. That's not love--that's self-hatred and self-gratification based on fleshly desires.
People who love others wouldn't encourage anyone to drink and drive or to drive under the influence of any substance. People who love understand consequences--for every action, there is a consequence, whether it is positive or negative. But people who really love others--know this.

 Know that the devil loves to use "empty words" to entice and snare those who are unaware of how he works. He has no problem deliberately, miscuing meanings and concepts of words and he's doing a bang up job deceiving those who believe that same-sex marriage is anything but sin. If in fact, there is any value to the term, there would be no need to define by using the phrase, "same-sex" because God-defined marriage is intended to produce children and in this setting--no children can be produced (they can be adopted--not produced) by the process God intended to use.

Emptiness--having a void that needs to be filled and unfortunately, many people fill the voids in their lives by listening to the enemy who certainly does not love them and is using them for his purposes--to destroy mankind. Don't be deceived--fill your time with study in The Word and in communication with the Father--who knows best for all of His Children.

Believers' Instructions for Daily Living!

"Follow God's example, therefore as dearly loved children and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God. But AMONG YOU there must not be even a hing of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God's holy people. Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving. For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure, or greedy person--such a person is an idolater--has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God." (Ephesians 5:1-5 NIV)

In every letter Paul writes to the churches, he encourages those who belong to God to live like God would have them to live--using God as an example for living on a daily basis. Notice--he is writing to the churches--explaining how Christians (or rather Believers) should live for he knows that those outside of the Body of Christ will not heed his advice.  If they did listen, they would be included in the Body.

This very simple understanding is key for all Believers--God inspired men to write what He said in order to perfect the lives of those who would believe. If people choose not to believe the Bible is God's inspired Word, that is their prerogative and they can be assured that they don't have to believe, but the consequences and the judgment shall be the same for all--Believers and unbelievers. For God is not a respecter of persons--when judgment comes--it rains upon all, saved and sinner alike.

Even though most of us want to see everyone we know saved, it is not our job to try to make people believe. If they are not convinced by The Word, and we are not living examples of The Word, then we will be held accountable for what we do, not what they do.

It is absolutely pointless to debate The Word with an unbeliever. Although many may say they don't believe God, deep down they know there is force more superior to themselves that holds all power in His hands, they simply choose to be arbitrary about it. And those who profess to believe in science alone--they say so because they do not understand the role of science. Science attempts to explain the existence of things or how they work. God created all that exists and determined how all things would work before man could even coin the term, "science." This is not to say there is no value in what scientists do because there is great value in what they do. However, until they create all that God created from nothing--they are not gods, but instruments in the hand of God--when they heed Him--led to discovery and invention, not creation.

The directions Paul gives are clear--for Believers--we should not indulge in sexual immorality (and we know all that is referenced for we know our Father); we should not indulge in obscene behavior or conversation; we should not indulge in unwholesome joking (don't pretend you don't know what he's talking about); and greed should never be part of our lives. For if we indulge in these things and do not repent--turning completely away from them--we will not enter into the promised eternity--living in heaven with Christ Jesus.

Are these instructions for you or someone else? The Believer--who is in relationship with God, understands God's Word and the role of Jesus Christ coming down from heaven--knows the truth. And when we know truth, we should live truth and encourage others to do likewise.

Heirs of The Most High God!

"For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, "Abba, Father." The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs--heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his suffering in order that we may also share in his glory." (Romans 8: 14-17 NIV)

When parents adopt children they have the same rights as those who are the biological children of the same parents--at least in the families who actually have something to leave to their children.

Those of us who have been adopted into the kingdom of God, understanding that God our Father, has by His Spirit brought us into a right of inheritance with Jesus and all others who are now His children, have an inheritance and right to enter into heaven to reign with Him.

No longer can any group of people claim to have exclusive rights to our Heavenly Father. For all who have been adopted by the Spirit of the Living God, have equal rights as joint-heirs--no one superior or inferior to another. Hallelujah! I am a child of God!

Now--all of God's children, should know how their Father wants to them to conduct themselves in the presence of Him and others. We should know and understand that His commands are for our protection--not to just keep us from having fun as some would think. As good parents establish rules to protect those they love--so has God and if we can receive the rules of human parents, why can't we receive the commands of the One who created all things--including humanity.

Within every family, all who belong have a responsibility to the family. Parents have a responsibility to the children and the children have a responsibility to the parents and the household. Most children are raised with established guidelines and chores to make sure that no one is overly burdened by having to do all the work of maintaining a home.

The Body of Christ is the family to whom we all have a responsibility. When we operate in the gifts given and do our part within the Body, we eliminate the burden of any one person or group having to get the job done. What is the job we must do? We must promote the Gospel of Jesus Christ, creating an avenue for all to receive and accept the Work on the Cross and bring them into the family. Once they are brought into the family, we are to teach them as our Father as taught us to do all things to His glory. Even if we are persecuted for our faith--we stand firm in our identity with Christ and allow no one to move us from the inheritance we know in Him--eternity with Him.

It does not matter what the masses do when they rebel against God--they too will have an eternity, but it won't be with Him since if they are not His children; they have no right of inheritance to all He has promised those who are His.

If we get beyond thinking--that God's children must act like those in the world, whose father is Satan--then we could accomplish all that God would have us do and we would know success in all things. If we are God's children, then let us act like His--being the light that draws others to Him--exposing the deeds of darkness.

I am a joint-heir with Christ Jesus and I will not allow political correctness or any other foolishness to entice me into losing my inheritance of eternity with Him. I am an Heir of the Most High God--His precious daughter and I will not relinquish my relationship with Him to appease others.

Are You Convinced?

"For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord." (Romans 8:37-39 NIV)

With all of the negative, depressive, and oppressive media reports we see and hear on a daily basis, it's difficult to understand how we could be convinced of anything good. Every day--rumors of unrest and violence all over the world--Afghanistan, Pakistan, all over the land from the middle to the far corners of the world--we seldom hear good news.

How we function as children of The Most High should not be predicated upon "world news" but by The Word of God--the Good News--that no matter what happens here on earth, nothing--absolutely nothing shall separate us from the love of God.

And one of the things we need to stop doing is bashing where we live--in America. Instead of complaining about the negative events--we should be praying for God to fill all with His wisdom and love--so we can live in peace. When we rise up against authority--whether we like the authority or not--we put ourselves in a position to not receive God's blessings because of our disobedience.  That's right--it is disobedient to rise up against authority (unless the authority is totally ungodly).

I see constant denigrating remarks about the President by people who claim to be Christians. Their remarks cause me to wonder if indeed they are followers of Jesus Christ. That is not to say they should agree with everything the President does, but it does mean we should not stoop to name-calling and cartoon caricatures that are demeaning. When other countries see our lack of respect for elected leadership, they sit back and laugh at all of us--waiting for disaster that is bound to happen.

So, since it is obvious the President is not hearing or listening to God--let's pray for him.

Since no one in Congress is doing their job--we need to pray that people will elect those who will.

Since those sitting on the Supreme Court have lost sight of their purpose as it pertains to upholding laws--not changing them, we need to pray for them--that they'll repent and hear God.

Since there are people who think they have a right to take lives--indiscriminately, we need to pray for them.

Since there are people who think they are superior to others--we need to pray for them.

Since there are people who live in total submission to those who have enticed them with evil, we need to pray for them.

Since there are people with idiotic notions about family, education, and raising children--we need to pray for them.

Since there are people on this planet who think everything should be given to them--we need to pray for them.

There are so many things we need to pray about and people who need prayer--direct instruction from God--and if we were praying, we wouldn't have time to denigrate others--in any way.

Nevertheless, we know these things are happening and no matter what--whether people stop hating or not, stop killing or not, stop being foolish or not, nothing--absolutely nothing shall separate those who truly love God from His presence or His love.

I am convinced--especially since I know the end of the story--in the end we who Believe God, win--and while we wait for the victory of ascending to heaven, we can live this life, knowing we are more than conquerors through Him who loves us.

Are you convinced? If not, get into The Word and know--not just believe, but know He is our risen Savior and we can do all things well through Him.

By Faith, Not Foolishness!

"Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. This is the what the ancients were commended for. By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God's command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible." (Hebrews 11:1-3 NIV)

Many people have varying opinions about what faith is and how it should operate in our lives, but this particular passage of scripture reminds us how God defines faith. Having faith is being confident about those things we hope to see and the assurance about what we do not see.

By faith, we sit on chairs we did not see built, expecting them to support us without collapsing.

By faith, we live in our houses made from the wood of trees we did not grow and most of us--unless we built from the ground up--did not see the framework built, the foundation poured, or the roof installed, yet we expect the house to withstand the elements and we rest with assurance that it will keep us safe--every time we go to sleep.

By faith, we eat food in restaurants we did not cook, expecting not to become ill and the food will nourish us.

By faith, we walk outside expecting to breathe in oxygen, even though we cannot see it--we never challenge it is there.

By faith, we start up cars--expecting them to get us from one point to the other and we have no idea whether the car was built correctly or even if those responsible for inspecting the finished product, even knew how to do their jobs. We keep buying cars and driving them with assurance--until there is a mechanical problem.

By faith, we buy produce and other products from supermarkets--expecting them to be good even though we did not have a hand in growing anything or manufacturing anything we purchase.

By faith, we bring children into an uncertain world--confident that we will see them survive and thrive beyond the uncertainties and we do what we can--without being able to see into the future--to make sure they have a good life.

By faith, we teach our children to be careful when crossing streets, confident that when we have taught them, they will not foolishly walk in front of moving traffic.

By faith, when we know that all the utilities have been paid, we turn on water and light switches without checking to see if the pipes and wires are working. We simply expect them to be.

There are so many things we do by faith (not feelings--for feelings are fickle) without even thing about it, but when it comes to the things of God--our faith--confidence in Him--wavers because we listen to the naysayers and doubt.

Jesus said, "When we pray, we must believe we receive" that for which we have asked so if we have received, why ask for it again? Faith--to receive what we have asked for is demonstrated in our thanksgiving until it manifests itself--not in constantly asking for the same thing.

On the other hand, those who deliberately do dumb things and expect God to save them are not acting in faith, but foolishly. We can expect God to save us from situations we did not create or know about, but to do things foolishly in anticipation of Him being a magician--is foolish.

Now--is the time--we must have faith in God with complete confidence that all He has promised--He will provide and all we have to do is--believe it will come to pass.

Living Wisely!

"Be very careful, then, how you live--not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord's will is." (Ephesians 5:15-17 NIV).

How do we live wisely--understanding what the Lord's will is?

The first thing we must do is to seek God's wisdom in all things and we can find His will in His Word--His Word is His Will for us and how we live.

After admonishing the church at Ephesus to live as children of the light--doing all things that can be openly examined and scrutinized without shame or fear, Paul continues with instructions based upon the Word and their circumstances. He reminds them that once upon a time--they walked in darkness--not knowing truth and doing all sorts of things that were too shameful to even discuss.
 Now, he tells them--find out what pleases The Lord and live accordingly.

Those words--"and find out what pleases The Lord" (Ephesians 5:10) speak volumes to us today. If we're going to live wisely, doing what pleases The Lord, we must know what it is that pleases Him. The only way we can discover that is to read His Word and get understanding.

Notice what Paul doesn't say--live to please self or others. There's a reason he doesn't say that. If we learn to live to please God, in all things--He will give us favor with others and therefore--they will be pleased. However, we cannot attempt to please man (our fleshly desires) and think that God will be pleased with us--especially if what we do is in opposition to His Word.

The Word never tells us to be politically correct in order not to offend others with truth. The Word tells us to be bold and very courageous in promoting the Gospel. If people are offended by Truth, it is because Truth exposes their lifestyle that opposes God. In other words--Truth pulls the cover off those things that people think they do in secret or in dark places where they cannot be seen.

Being politically correct--sugar-coating truth or exchanging truth for a lie--has become the blueprint the enemy uses to cause many to fall away from living according to The Word. This is foolishness, not wisdom. And because of the foolishness, we see changes in just about everything, made to accommodate the ungodly. Changes in school curriculum that expose young children to lifestyles that are in opposition to God. Changes in how those in authority seek to please people in ungodliness more than they do about upholding righteousness. Changes in how churches abdicate their responsibilities and duties to God in order to win favor with the masses who are on a path going directly to hell. All these changes--allowing evil to reign--unchecked--is the reason we see so much violence and killing. The prince of the air--is amassing an army that is willing to defy God no matter what the consequences are and foolish people are being led by the nose--into the lake of fire. 

That is not living wisely. If what we do in private cannot stand the test of microscopic examination, we shouldn't do it for surely, we will be exposed by the light of Truth and all things done is darkness, will eventually be exposed by the light.

Now is not the time to back away from God's Will; now is the time to endeavor to seek His Will on a daily basis and live as wise people, not foolish ones.

Understanding Our Ministry Purpose!

" (What does "he ascended" mean except that he also descended to the lower, earthly regions? He who descended is the very one who ascended higher than all the heavens, in order to fill the whole universe.) So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors, and teachers to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ." (Ephesians 4:9-13 NIV)

Christ, Himself gave gifts to men and women to function in the roles of apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers--all promoting The Word and how to live a Godly life--so that all in the Body of Christ will know what they are to do and how they are to live.  Christ did not set up denominations or religions to divide those who Believe Him, but to bring all who believe into unity--one purpose--teaching all, what God said in preparation for His return.

The ministry gifts--given to those chosen to function in those offices are accompanied with the Spiritual gifts as noted in I Corinthians 12:7-11 (a separate lesson coming soon). All of the spiritual gifts are given as Holy Spirit chooses to those He chooses--not as we desire. Many have been given the gifts of healing and manipulated the gift to bring attention to self and have been exposed for the deception. We are not give gifts to exploit people, but to provide purpose for what we do, magnifying God in all we do--so He gets the glory, not us.

But note this:  The nine gifts listed, cooperatively work in groups of three--faith, healing and miracles; prophecy, speaking in tongues and interpretation, wisdom, knowledge and discernment--all working together for the same purpose, but through different individuals. For anyone to claim they operate in all nine of the spiritual gifts--on their own--I would question the validity of that claim based upon the scriptures and discount anything else they had to say.

This is why it is important for all Believers to know and understand The Word. It is not enough to know what is said without having understanding of what is said and why. It is because so many have gone out--proclaiming and declaring things that God did not say, that we have so much confusion in the Body of Christ today. We must read, study, mediate upon The Word, gaining understanding before we attempt to tell anyone else, anything.

One of the reasons people attempt to manipulate the gift given is because they do not understand their purpose in ministry. They proclaim they have been called by God (when actually some have been called by people) and spend little to no time, preparing to function in the calling they claim. When God calls us--He equips us to do the work He has called us to do--naturally, supernaturally, and spiritually. He inspires us to study, directs us to where we can find information to clarify our roles and in understanding His Word. He speaks to us when we allow ourselves to hear Him, guiding us every step of the way.

When He anoints us to do something out of the ordinary, it is the supernatural gifting and operation of Holy Spirit in control, not us and all we have to do is submit to His leading and by this submission, people will know--whether we are called by God or we have allowed men/women to influence our decision to get into ministry.

Doing the work of ministry is not always a pleasant task, but it is a necessary task and when we do it to the glory of God, we know it is worthwhile.

Before we go out into the world of unsuspecting people trying to make our name for ourselves, let's seek God and obtain understanding the purpose of the ministry gifts and then allow Him to fill us  to overflowing to function in the gifts, He gives!

A Prayer For All Times!

"For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you being rooted and established in love, may have power, together will the Lord's holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love surpasses knowledge--that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God." (Ephesians 3:14-19 NIV)

How wonderful to have examples of prayers by those touched by experience with Jesus!

I am convinced that when we have had an experience with Jesus--our faith in Him is magnified to see beyond the natural and the immediate--having compassion upon all who will come to know Him and intercede on their behalf.

Notice that nothing in this short prayer has anything to do with asking for "individual" pleas. This is Paul praying--interceding on behalf of those in Ephesus--and this prayer is worthy of being prayed today--for all Believers--all over the world.

We can pray for every family--asking God to comfort the hearts of those who have lost loved ones and for direction and instruction and providing an experience with Jesus--so all will come to know the grace that has been given to us.

We can pray that God's love will fill hearts to overflowing so everyone we meet will know who we are and our relationship with Christ--without us having to say one word.

We can pray that a desire for knowing what God has said will fill hearts and minds so all will understand that knowledge of Him is better than any other knowledge because with the knowledge of Him--we understand the importance of love.

We can pray that all who have been brought into right relationship with God will be sustained by His love and know by faith that no matter what happens in this world, we are never alone because He is always with us.

We can pray that all who have been saved--accepted the work on the cross and have come to Jesus--will share their testimony with others--becoming true witnesses of His mercy and grace.

We can pray that God's love and mercy will strengthen every believer as He empowers them with His Spirit to do all things and to do them well to His glory.

We can pray that through the witness of every Believer, no one will be able to stand before the Father on That Day and say, they have never heard of the glorious Gospel of Jesus Christ.

We can pray for world peace as world leaders open their hearts and become receptive to the Gospel of Jesus Christ and will allow The Word to penetrate their inner beings and become saved--determined to lead by direction of Holy Spirit so all of God's people  can live in peace.

We can pray for an end to violence and hatred so the killing will stop and love will fill the voids in the hearts of those who do not yet know The Lord.

When we pray as those who came before us prayed, all the things we need and desire will be part of the response of our prayers--because our focus has not been us--but others.

Thank You, Lord for allowing us to see beyond the words on the page of our Bibles and to see You directing our steps as we await Your return. Hallelujah, Jesus! Nobody like You in all the world!

Saved and Knowledgeable Of The Truth!

"I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people--for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth." (I Timothy 2:1-4 NIV)

Those of us who are saved--by the blood of The Lamb--and know Truth--as God said it--know what we are to do--in all situations.

We pray--not just for what we as individuals want, but for those in leadership at every level--heads of households, heads of local communities, heads of state governments and national governments, and world leaders--for all in authority--we pray that they will lead with Godly wisdom at all times--considering the needs of all people.

We intercede on behalf of those who do not know Truth that they will be brought into the marvelous light of Truth and know our Risen Savior as we do and will choose to live a life, pleasing to God. When we intercede for others--our focus is not on us, but them and while we're interceding for them--there may be others who are interceding for us and God is glorified in our efforts to consider others.

We give thanks on a daily basis for all God has done for us, all He is doing for us and all He will do for us--not just for things, but knowledge, wisdom, grace, and mercy. We thank Him for healing broken bodies and spirits. We thank Him for peace--in our homes and all over the world. We thank Him for the use of our limbs, for pouring wisdom into the minds of scientists everywhere so they will find cures for all manner of illnesses so all can live--a quality life.

When we discover the benefit of prayer--expecting God's response--believing He will answer--in His own timing--we can navigate life with the assurance that no matter what things look like, God will take of us. In the midst of the storms of life, when it seems like nothing is going right for us, we must remember that we are never alone--and God knows all about our trials and since He has purposed for us a life that will glorify Him, we can rest assured--His plans will come to pass.

No matter what our situations or how long it takes for our loved ones to accept the work on the Cross, if we continue to believe God for their salvation, He will do it and the experience with Him, will put them on the right path--where knowledge of God will become the focus of their attention and they will live a life, abundantly blessed.

Father, in the name of Jesus,

I thank You for us enough to come down to earth, experience life as we know it and not sin, and sacrifice Yourself for us.

I thank You for grace, mercy, and Truth so we might know how to live, pleasing You.

I pray that You will speak to the hearts of every person in leadership of any kind, all over the world--providing them Wisdom from above and direction and instructions so all may live a peaceful life.

I pray that every Believer will continue to seek You in all things, continually desiring more of You--wisdom, grace, and mercy so we may share the knowledge with others.

I pray that every preacher, teacher, evangelist, prophet, pastor--by whatever title they use--will seek You and what it is You desire for them to speak to Your people.

I pray that in every building or place of worship--enclosed or outdoors--that Your Spirit will fall fresh and Your anointing will enable all to do Your Will in all situations.

I stand against the works of the enemy who will influence hatred and violence and living in opposition to You.

I pray all Believers will become so full of You they will stand on Your Word, no matter what the enemy attempts to do to discourage them. I declare boldness and courage shall be their badges of honor wherever they go, exercising wisdom in all things, to Your glory.

All this I believe and praise You for doing, In Jesus' name, I declare it is done.

Guarding What We Have With Care!

"Timothy, guard what has been entrusted to your care. Turn away from godless chatter and the opposing ideas of what is falsely called knowledge, which some have professed and in so doing have departed from the faith. Grace be with you all." (1 Timothy 6:20, 21 NIV).

Within the context of the instructions given to Timothy regarding how he was to conduct himself within the church, we find those instructions relevant to everyone who is in leadership, now.

Though many may argue that the bible is "simply a book of myths," those who know Truth, know better. And as such, we can always go back to the bible--for instructions in our daily living, understanding that what God inspired others to write-no matter when it was written--is still good for us, today.

An interesting conversation occurred yesterday when someone said to me, they didn't finish reading a certain book years ago because of the book's doctrine. Since I was familiar with the book, I couldn't understand the reference, but was able to determine that the person meant, "they didn't want to be indoctrinated" by what was being disclosed in the book. It struck me when it was said and I responded that perhaps, that's why many people won't read the bible--fear of indoctrination to a sound belief system.

I know many could argue why the bible is outdated, but they could not argue that with me. I don't argue over what's in the bible because of my relationship with God. I know and understand the bible is a summary of historical events, demonstrating God's love for mankind from the beginning, and is sound--for the day in which we live. If all understood the context of events noted in the bible and what happened and what was said, when--we'd understand that careful study of where we are today, is depicted in the bible--a history that covers about 3500 hundred years of man's behavior and God's response.

We learn how God expects us to honor Him and honor parents as well as one another--still relevant today. We learn how we are conduct ourselves with one another--with integrity. We learn what happens to people who do not honor God and those He has chosen. We learn how we are to respond to those who are different and respect them for who they are. We learn about politics and leadership, taxes, and love relationships--culminating in marriage as part of His plan to see mankind continually perpetuated by new births. We learn how much He loves us through His death on the cross, His resurrection, and His ascension with the promise of His return. We learn how to operate in the gifts and power He has given us through Holy Spirit. We learn to love the unlovable and to pray for our enemies. And everything we learn now, is referenced in the bible--that "book of myths" by which so many have used--to gain wealth and assist others.

All of this--and more--Paul was reminding Timothy of as he started leading a church--to stay the course and guard what he had been taught, never allowing the foolishness of demonic teachings to become part of what he taught others.

Unfortunately, since many do not understand how Holy Spirit operates in our lives, they have succumbed to demonic teaching--all those things that are opposed to God's plans for mankind--and they think they are teaching truth. They are not teaching God's Truth and since we have no truth to teach, what is being taught is a lie and we know that Satan is the father of all liars. We cannot allow demonic teachings to keep us from our destination--an eternity with God. 

With all of our getting, we must get wisdom--and true wisdom only comes from above--not below. We must guard the wisdom given from God with great care and allow Him to direct us in all things.

Will Your Work Stand The Test?

"By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as a wise builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one should build with care. For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. If anyone builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, their work will be shown for what it is because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each person's work." (1 Corinthians 3:10-13 NIV)

In a number of places across the country, storms are a challenge to daily living. People end up watching their hard-earned livelihoods, homes, and other property--destroyed by wind and rain. However, even in the midst of the destruction, some buildings remain, untouched, as though it had been moved until the storm finished its destruction.

Companies--who miss laying a solid foundation for functioning and surviving--cease to exist in the midst of economic storms--and people lose their jobs, homes, and families disintegrate as consumer prices rise and many are left standing as though zombies, wondering what just happened.

Families--who try to exist and survive without a firm foundation of love and respect--end up scattered like the wind blowing birdseed--landing where they may, not knowing how to continue for they have no foundation on which to build.

Everything that survives the test of time and trial does so because of having a solid foundation and the church is no different. The foundation in the church is Jesus Christ and if anyone attempts to build on any other foundation--they place themselves in position to be tested and most won't withstand the test. But this test--is not about wind and rain--it is about judgment from on high. If our foundation is Jesus Christ--then everything we do--should be according to The Word and not our own thoughts and desires.

Some people--have taken the above-referenced passage of scripture to mean that buildings used for worship services should not contain costly stone, gold or silver.  But if that were true, they also should not use hay, straw, or wood. The metaphor used is not about what the building is made of, but what's being done within the building. If our bodies are temple where the Holy Spirit dwells, what are we doing to them? All Believers are the Body of Christ--but what are we doing to demonstrate that our foundation is Jesus Christ?

I hate to belabor a point made many times, by many people--but when I see people who proclaim to be Christians and yet live in opposition to God's Word--I question the foundation of their proclamation--it cannot be Jesus Christ.

If we truly belong to Him, then we listen to what He says, understand what He says, and obey what He says. That is--if our foundation is Jesus Christ--we will not allow another to mislead and deceive us by trying to convince us otherwise. God's Word never changes, while man's fickleness is constantly changing--which is why the laws of the land are always changing to pacify those who choose not to live according to God's Word. For if we lived according to God's Word--there would be no need for laws and all would live in peace.

But the key to establishing a solid foundation about anything is in the ability of the leader to inspire and motivate others to build with care--that on which they profess to stand. Will your work stand the test? If not, perhaps, it's time to tear down the existing foundation of beliefs and rebuild on solid ground with faith in Jesus Christ--who never fails or disappoints.

Follow Godly Wisdom, Not Human Folly and Foolishness!

"Do not deceive yourselves. If any of you think you are wise by the standards of this age,you should become "fools" so that you may become wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness in God's sight. As it is written: "He catches the wise in their craftiness," and again, "The Lord knows that the thoughts of the wise are futile. So then, no more boasting about human leaders!" All things are yours, whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas or the world or life or death or the present or the future--all are yours, and you are of Christ and Christ is of God." (1 Corinthians 3: 18-23 NIV)

One of the most devastating things that could ever happen to people is to give leaders so much credit for being more than they are that they foolishly follow their example, rather than God's.

Nowhere in history do find a mere human being so incapable of erring that we can look at them and say, "That's a person worth following," and be telling the truth.

No, the only person worth following is Jesus Christ--the Son of God--who has the wisdom of God and leads us to the Father when we follow Him.

If we lack true wisdom--about anything--family, current events, sin, education, political agendas--anything--it is all found in His Word and in our hearts when we seek God for His wisdom.

We don't have to guess or speculate about anything--we simply ask and He provides us with direction and instruction.

When we think we are wiser than God, we fall and some never rise again. We have entire civilizations that used to be and are no longer because they failed to understand, their wisdom was not comparable to God's wisdom.

We are in a day and time in which we need the Wisdom of God more than ever. We see on a daily basis that many in leadership positions or positions of authority are acting upon their own wisdom which is foolishness and if we obey man over God, we can only get the appropriate consequence--failure.

This is not to say that I am wiser than anyone else, but I know when I need answers, who to seek. Even when I don't hear Him clearly, He knows how to get my attention so I can correct any wrongs and keep moving forward with Him as my guide. I am wise enough to know--without Him--I have no wisdom, but I'd rather be thought a fool--following Him, than to be known as the foolish--following man.

Not everyone will be able to understand the underlying message of The Word and that is as God intended. His Word, inspired by Him and written by those who had a heart to Him, is intended for those who have a heart to obey Him. No mystery to the method, just heart--to hear and obey--and then reap the benefits of obedience, rather than the penalties for disobedience.

We have a choice to make and we must make it soon if we are ever to see America rise upon the fray of common arrogance and political correctness when it comes to making decisions and laws regarding all the people. If we love God and love one another, we will not fall into the pit--straying from God's path--by following the foolishness of human folly.

United For The Cause!

"I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought." (I Coriinthians 1:10 NIV).

This appeal from Paul to all church leaders--was in response to those who thought they had a claim of superiority over others--simply because of who the leader was. For whatever reason--then as now--people tend to think that if they belong to a certain church or denomination that they have bragging rights and feel superior to any other Believers.

The truth of the matter is--if ALL claim to be Believers in the Work on the Cross, in salvation, repentance, spreading The Word and LIVING according to The Word--then NONE are superior or inferior. ALL are equal in the sight of God since He has no respect of persons.
People who have worship services on Sunday have no more access to God than those who have worship services on Saturday or any other day of the week--we all have equal access to God through the Son, Jesus Christ.

How a person is baptized is a matter between them and God, but if we look at the Scriptures and desire to be like Christ, who was submerged when baptized, then we would have to know, submersion is  the acceptable baptismal method. But this is not to argue, sprinkling or submersion--the act of baptism is supposed to symbolic of our "being buried with Him (to sin), and rising again (to live for Him)" to do the good works He said we would do. If we cannot do the works--ignited by love--for God and others--our baptism means nothing.

I can perfectly understand Paul's response to the church at Corinth--it doesn't matter who does the baptism or under what banner--it is the BAPTISM itself that matters--not who did it. If a person's heart is not right--it won't matter who does the baptizing. Some have gone into the water a dry devil and come up a wet one--there is no change of heart and so there can be no change of action.

Since none--but Jesus--has ever died for us--why do we pay so much attention to people in leadership positions? They have no heaven or hell for us. Their opinion of us--matters not--especially those who simply love to have authority over others, but have no relationship with God and it is evident in how they conduct themselves in their various churches. Having authority over people does not make them gods--it usually means God's favor--but more often it means, someone has erred in judgment by putting a godless person over others. We know this happens because we see the results every day when they are reported in the media. Why can't we choose leaders by praying until God shows us who is to lead?

Okay, that's a topic by itself and I will explore it, but the important thing for all BELIEVERS is that we are saying what God says--in total agreement--without any division. When the Body of Christ (everyone who proclaims to be believe in Him) unites in thought, purpose and deed, we will indeed change the world for the better.

Until then, let's not get caught up in people--who lead--but in the Leader we follow--Jesus Christ and learn to be united for the cause--encouraging everyone to live according to The Word of God!

The Difference Between The Old Self and The New Self!

"That, however, is not the way of life you learned, when you heard about Christ and were taught in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus. You were taught with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness." (Ephesians 4:20-24 NIV)

Once again, we see in The Word, those who are speaking to the Believer--not the ones who never believed, but those who have come to learn that Jesus is the only way to the Father.

I hesitate to say that The Word was written for Christians since the term "Christian/Christianity" has taken on new connotations since those who refuse to obey The Word in its totality are still calling themselves, Christians. So, I use the term Believers--those who have a relationship with God through Jesus Christ and live according to The Word and its truth. I claim that this is an unequivocal truth since unbelievers will not read The Word and certainly won't obey it.

When I see what is going on in some churches, I wonder if those attending the buildings have ever read The Word for themselves since they are always defeated by every little thing that happens in their lives. Some are quick to resort to cussing people out when they can't have their way or in spreading rumors about things that have nothing to do with them or out of envy and jealousy. They are hard-hearted and think of no one but themselves and what they want to see happening in the building, for they do not realize it is the Body of Believers who are the True Church.

Most of what Paul writes is about how we ought to conduct ourselves as a Body of Believers--especially when we claim to be followers of Christ. He writes instructions on how to behave in our places of worship, gives instructions about those who have been gifted in various offices--apostle, prophet, evangelist, pastor and teacher and all the helps ministries in the church. He gives us instructions on how to be parents and good husbands and wives. And in all of the instructions, if we read carefully, we see and understand how his experience with Jesus changed his life--from being a member of religious sect to being a Believer of Christ Jesus.

This is what truly believing and following Jesus means or should mean--we put off/set aside our old ways of doing things, cloaked in darkness, hiding our sins, and put on/drape ourselves in the newness of Christ Jesus. When we discover the new covering is so much better than the old, we should walk in the newness of life and light of love bestowed upon us.

We have rules for everything--especially in the church buildings--but if all those coming into the building, were walking as new selves in Jesus Christ, we would have no need for rules for we would all be submitted to Holy Spirit and we would allow Him to do His job--in the building and when we're not in the building.

If we have any love in us for God, we would listen to His voice and obey in all things, so when others see us or hear us, they would know--we belong to Jesus and our new selves will not continue to wear the old cloak of darkness--attempting to hide our sins.

Offering Our Complete Selves to God!

"In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus. Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires. Do not offer any part of yourself to sin as an instrument of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer every part of yourself to him as an instrument of righteousness."(Romans 6:11-13 NIV)

When we are "dead" to sin, we do not allow its stench to be a part of our lives. We know sin has a horrific odor because anything that is dead stinks--and when death occurs of any fleshly thing--the flies gather and other insects that feed off dead things. But with the death of sin--no longer allowing it to reign in our lives--because we are yet alive, physically--there is a sweet fragrance--pleasing to God--that emanates from us and is seen in everything we do. And we offer up ourselves to Him--in total submission to all He has said--the sacrifice of praise for living a Godly life and He rewards us with an eternity with Him.

When our whole beings-- our minds, our mouths, our tongues, our ears, our eyes, our hearts, our hands--our entire bodies--especially those parts that are ignited and stirred by thoughts of sin--are submitted to Him, our focus is Him, not us. When our focus is Him and not us, He gives us the power to resist participating in sin and when we submit to God, we can ignore the enemy and he will flee from us.

How do we submit to God--completely? We repent of any sin in our lives and get into The Word. We read The Word--everything--one segment at a time and then meditate on what we've read. When we understand The Word, we begin applying The Word to our daily lives. We pay attention to what we read--and will not allow our eyes to stray to ungodly images or communications by any means. We will not watch television shows or movies or videos that promote sin, enticing us to return to the evil.

We pay attention to the music we hear and we will not listen to people or music that could return us to the stench we given up--once and for all.

We keep our minds on things above and not those below--without becoming so heavenly minded we are of no earthly good.

We submit our hearts to the circumcision needed to cut away anger, malice, bitterness, jealousy, envy, and hatred and allow God to fill us with His love to overflowing.

We submit our tongues and mouths to saying only those things that please God and will not grieve Holy Spirit with filthy language that only demonstrates who is really reigning in our lives.

We submit and hands and feet to sharing the good things God has given us with others in promoting the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

We submit our hormones to Him to be used in the righteous act of sexual activity--marriage with one man and one woman--and we will not allow the masses of public opinion persuade us to do otherwise.

When we offer ourselves completely to God, He will direct our paths and on His paths--the journey leads to greatness and success in all we do.

What are we waiting for? It's time to offer our complete selves to God--so all glory is His!

Is Holy Spirit Infilling Wasted On Us?

"This is what God the Lord says--the Creator of the heavens, who stretches them out, who spreads out the earth with all that springs from it, who gives breath to its people, and life to those who walk on it: I, the Lord, have called you in righteousness; I will take hold of your hand. I will keep you and will make you to be a covenant for the people and a light for the Gentiles, to open eyes that are blind, to free captives from prison, and to release from the dungeon those who sit in darkness." (Isaiah 42:5-7 NIV).

The Spirit of the Lord--poured into His Servant (Jesus Christ) and for all who choose to serve Him--this is the promise fulfilled in the person of Jesus Christ and is still being fulfilled in those who follow Him and obey the Father. When He returned to heaven, He promised that He would provide us with the Comforter--His Spirit--so we would be able to do all things.

Through the record of events as noted by Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, we know that Jesus did all that had been prophesied by the prophet Isaiah and what is more notable is--Jesus telling us that we would do greater things than He did because we would have the power of His Spirit to guide us, strengthen us, and teach us.

We know what Jesus did being filled with the Spirit of the Father--but what are we doing--being filled with His Spirit? Has His promise atrophied in those who claim to be filled or do we need to stay before--seeking constant refilling and when we are filled, are we doing the greater works that He said we would do?

If we are filled (not just sealed as some would argue) with Holy Spirit--are we seeking to open blinded eyes, laying hands on the sick so they will recover, interceding on behalf of those in far-away places as well those under our own roof? Are we visiting those in prisons promoting the message of Good News--a Risen Savior has taken upon Himself all of our sins that we might abundant life? Are we the beacons of light that shine brightly, leading those in darkness out of the dungeons of circumstances and oppression?

Before you ask yourself these questions, please think about what being filled with Holy Spirit means versus being sealed by Holy Spirit. Paul tells us in Ephesians 4:30, " And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption." To understand the difference between being sealed and being filled--think about the contents of an envelope. We are the envelope--an empty vessel--until we are filled and then sealed. Now, many are filled with various content which is why Paul admonishes us to not be filled with bitterness, anger and slanderous tongues. Once the envelope is sealed--nothing else should be able to get into it, unless it is opened and its content revealed. When we first repent and accept Jesus as our Person Savior, we are sealed against the wiles of the enemy, but when we receive the infilling of Holy Spirit, we are empowered from within to withstand the fiery darts the enemy throws our way.

When we understand that our bodies are the "temple where Holy Spirit resides" we would be careful as to how we treat our bodies--providing Holy Spirit a clean place in which to live so He can clearly communicate with us all we need to know. Choosing to live in sin grieves Holy Spirit and He will leave since He will not dwell in a defiled place. When He leaves, the seal is broken and all that is within us exposed for all to see.

What are you doing with the infilling of Holy Spirit? Are you seeking the lost to bring them to the light of love and has your seal been broken because of the content within you--is not of Holy Spirit?
Looking at the world today--and the number of professing Believers--I'm not sure Holy Spirit is guiding many people and I can tell by the chaos that most of our government leaders do not even Holy Spirit has left the building and there are voids in their hearts that the enemy has filled.

But all is not lost for the Lord promised He would save for Himself--a remnant--the few who will remain faithful and filled, serving Him at all times, and allowing Holy Spirit to direct them. On that remnant--the infilling of Holy Spirit resides within and they will serve The Lord until the day of His returned, completely sealed--immune the tricks of the enemy.

When Hurt Feelings Lead To Repentance!

"Even If I caused you sorrow by my letter, I do not regret it. Though I did regret it--I see that my letter hurt you, but only for a little while--yet now I am happy, not because you were made sorry, but because your sorrow led you to repentance. For you became sorrowful as God intended and so were not harmed in any way by us. Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death." (2 Corinthians 7:8-10 NIV)

For all the blog posts, articles, and scripture references that have been used to encourage obedience, ignite repentance, and inspire desire to please God--we should all be thankful.

Why should we be thankful when people hurt our feelings--according to The Word? Because sometimes, we are so caught up in doing what we want to do--those things that please flesh--we forget that the desire of a Christian should be to please God and that means--when we get off track, someone has to be courageous enough to remind us of truth--even if it hurts--for a moment.

Let's face it--no one who thinks they know how to cook appreciates being told their food is lousy. No one who thinks they know how to write appreciates being told their writing stinks. And no one--especially women--likes being told that what they're wearing is not flattering, when they think it is.

Encouraging people to live according The Word to please God is an arduous task--one not many will undertake because they know truth hurts--even the one speaking truth is often stung by it. But if The Word stings--and hurts and slices and dices our consciences, then The Word is doing its job. Usually--for people who really want to please God--once we get over getting our feelings hurt and own up to what we've done or are doing--we repent and get back on track--the path which God had set us upon from the beginning.

When Jesus said, "Do not suppose I came to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword." (Matthew 10:34). The sword--God's Word is a two-edged sword--cutting into our consciences when heard  and spoken. Jesus knew that even though He is The Word, He had to speak The Word--to ignite sorrow and repentance.

If we never tell our children what they are doing is wrong, they never have to repent of wrong-doing. However, as children of the most High God, when we read The Word, explication of The Word, or hear The Word, if there is any sin in our lives, our hearts should pricked (our feelings hurt) and we should repent--once we get over our hurt feelings. Just as most parents love their children enough to correct their behavior, God loves us even more--since He is our heavenly Father.

It's time to grow up--man-up/woman-up--and take correction as provided in The Word, get over our hurt feelings and repent of all our wrong-doing. When we make a decision to please God, He gives us favor and the desires of our heart.

Over the past few months--there have been a number of articles written about the Supreme Court decision regarding gay marriage. I have written some of them--not to bash people because of their lifestyle, but to slice their consciences with The Word, reminding them what God said--not me and hopefully, leading them to repentance after they got over feelings being hurt.

The role of every Believer is to seek opportunity to share the Good News--though we may have sinned, we have a Savior who loves us enough that He died for us, that we would have opportunity to reign with Him, forever. If we are not willing to repent of our sins, we cannot reign with Him and our destination for all eternity has already been prepared in the lake of fire. My desire is to see everyone I know and even those I don't know--saved from the lake of fire--and living to please God, not man or flesh. So, if I've hurt some feelings along the way, good. If the hurt feelings have led to repentance--even better. For without repentance, we cannot enter into 
 Heaven.

Remembering Those Who Speak God's Word!

"Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today, and forever. Do not be carried away by all kinds of strange teachings." (Hebrews 13: 7-9 NIV)

People remember others for many things--the good and the bad--but when it comes to living a life that is pleasing to God and encourages others to desire to please Him, we are reminded to--remember those who speak God's Word.

However, we tend to remember those accused of immorality, corruptibility, and foolishness--we remember their deeds, and with the memory, most can never recall them ever serving our awesome wise God. So, why are we remembering them--constantly bringing them to the forefront our memories, but bringing them to light so others will also remember--all the bad stuff.

We are quick to remember those in leadership who did things that became a matter of public criticism--Clinton and Lewinsky, come to mind and then there are so many others that I cannot recall their names or what they did, but if someone reminded me, I'd probably remember. The issue for me is--and this is not a political statement--is that regardless of what people do, if they are not living a life that's pleasing to God or encouraging others to do so--why should we care?

We are living in an era in which access to information is immediate. And without taking the time to carefully dissect, analyze what we hear, we sometimes become the unwitting participate in the spreading of gossip and innuendo that irreparably harm others. We take allegations with no proof and spread them like an uncontrollable wildfire. We make people guilty of things they have never brought conviction upon them. And when some don't agree with an opinion of others--daring to not agree with them--we slice and dice, and resort to name-calling and personal attacks and then think we are superior to those we attack.

The only information that should concern us--the Gospel of Jesus Christ--and those who speak The Word--encouraging us to live a life pleasing to God and not just to beat us over the head with it. One of the most interesting things I've ever witnessed is for some (well-known) preachers to beat people over the head with The Word, criticize others for being caught up and exposed in sin, and then have their own sins exposed for all the world to see--after they have openly judged others for their wrong-doing. This is one of the reasons we are told to not judge others for their mistakes for we are all subject to failing in areas of our lives.

We should not openly condemn people for drinking and driving if we get up every Sunday morning, preaching the Word to others, but unable to do so, without a little help from a bottle. We should not openly condemn people for living in sin (any type of sin) if we're doing the same thing, but think we're hiding it from the world. One of the reasons many don't believe The Word is because they have only paid attention to the hypocrisy seen in those who proclaim The Gospel, but don't know how to live the life.

So we come to this passage of scripture--remember those leaders who speak the Word and live it before all. Are we the type of leader who speaks The Word and people will remember us for speaking it and living it? Or are we the type of leader people will remember for all our wrong-doing?

If we live a life according to The Word we speak--our lives indeed will be memorable--and people will share what they remember to the Glory of God when they think of us. They will remember The Word we live more than The Word we speak.

Don't Let Mere Human Beings Trip You Up!

"Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day. These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ. Do not let anyone who delights in false humility and the worship of angels disqualify you. Such a person also goes into great detail about what they have seen; they are puffed up with idle notions by their unspiritual mind. The have lost connection with the head, from whom the whole body, supported and held together by its ligaments and sinews, grows as God causes it to grow." (Colossians 2:16-19 NIV)

Let's see--where do we start with explanation of Paul is saying. Ah ha! He's reiterating what Jesus said about judgment--erroneously,

When people attempt to tell others what they shouldn't eat or judge them by what they do eat--pork and shellfish come to mind, they are attempting to hold others to "their standards" without regard to how a person is being led by God.

There are people who condemn others for having a drink of wine and then use the bible as their justification--when in reality-we can do anything--in moderation--as long as we are not operating out of alignment with God's Word. Having a glass of wine will not send anyone to hell; however, over-indulging in alcoholic beverages and driving could end someone's life. There is no wisdom in drinking and driving, texting and driving, or driving distracted by any means or under the influence of anything that would impair judgment while driving.

With regard to the holidays or other celebrations people observe--they are well within their right to celebrate whatever they want to celebrate--exercising the wisdom God gives and are not going to hell if they celebrate Christmas, Easter, Halloween, birthdays, anniversaries, etc. When celebrations lead to ungodly behaviors, then there is cause to question the celebration.

The continuing debate about "when the Sabbath is" is a matter of a person's relationship with God. Since the calendar we now observe is not the calendar or record of time used over 2000 years, ago, no one has the right to judge another; especially as to when they should observe a day of worship. The Sabbath--was intended to be a day of rest--doing nothing but reflecting upon God's goodness. It was not a day determined to attend religious observations--that is mere man's idea of the Sabbath. To get a better understanding of the day of rest--one need only to revisit Genesis and understand how God did things.

We are reminded by Paul, that all these "aforementioned" things existed because of man's rules before Christ. Now, those of us who are in Christ, have no need for man's rules to guide us since we have Holy Spirit within to direct our steps in all things. At any given time, in any given situation, we have no need to anyone to counsel us about what we should or should not do--if we're listening to Holy Spirit.

There is no need to have dress codes in churches--but many do because they feel the need to control. However, in any given situation, we should not offend others while in their presence. So, if we attend a church that expects people to "dress up," then dress up or don't go.

If we are in the presence of people who believe drinking alcohol is a sin--don't drink while you're with them. The same is true for a number of things, but don't allow their judgment--about anything--to deter you from being obedient to God and pleasing Him. For if we seek Him about all things, hear and obey, we will always please Him, who is the Head of our lives.
