Our Hope In Him!

"Hope in the LORD and keep his way. He will exalt you to inherit the land; when the wicked are destroyed, you will see it." (Psalm 37:34 NIV)
How many times do we hear people say, "I hope?" How many times do we say it? Considering the climate in our culture--the intensity of hate, violence, and ever-changing downward slide of our economy, we all hope to see the end of negativity, chaos, and confusion. But where is our hope in Him?

No matter how many times we say, "I hope" nothing will ever change until we realize that our hope--for change in anything, has to be in Him and Him alone.

Hope that people will exercise wisdom in elections is pointless unless they all know The Lord.

Hope for peace in the land is pointless when world leaders don't know The Lord.

Hope for confusion to end in the minds of others--those with poor parenting skills, gender issues, right and wrong, good and evil--all hope for change is pointless if people don't know The Lord.

When our hope is in Him, we know how He wants us to live and we live to please Him, according to His Word and His Will, not our own.

When we exalt Him by how we live before others, He will exalt us and not allow the wicked or evil to reign in our lives. When we do what He says to do, we can be assured of peace, joy and happiness, and know He reigns in our lives. When we don't succumb to wickedness, He destroys wickedness around us and He does it in His timing, no matter how matter how often we try to "hope" it away.

For real change in our society, let's change our focus and place all of our hope in Him who can and will keep us in times of trouble and confusion.

Father, in the name of Jesus, we look to You and You alone for change in the land that honors You and all You are to those who love You. We know You can speak to the hearts of all who are willing to hear and change things in an instant. We give You praise for all things and declare the enemy's infuence--ended--none of his plans shall succeed in our lives, and it is done!
